I have been suffering with the itching burning & sometimes blood on the toilet paper for 4 years. After having initially the external ones supposedly taken care of with rubber band ligation. But whether I used otc's like Preperation H or prescription such as Pramoxine 1% cream which did a good job of quickly sothing the symptoms it was only a temporary solution. I now have seen a colorrectal surgeon who said i have a tear in my anus which was aggravated by using baby wipes, ughhhh! So the doctor said that the fissure (tear) has to be healed first before anything else can be done to get rid of the hemmorhoids. The doctor prescribed a non prescription but special order Calmoseptine cream (which is a moisture barrier & can be used for other things such as itchy rashes) and prescription Diltiazem cream 2% to aid in the healing of the anal fissure.
Does anyone know if it matters the order that I apply the 2 creams? The doctor only told me to sit in the tub with only warm water (sitz bath) 2 or 3 times a day & 3 times a day use those creams. And she wants to see me in a month although I just read online info by a Brittish M.D. that it takes 6-8 weeks for it to work. I am getting more fiber in my diet and losing weight & hope that I don't need surgery.
