i knew about this affect on people's growth;
so i only do bicep curls, only 5kg (11 pounds), but i do about 15 on each side,
does that affect my growth, I am 14 (nearly 15) and i am about 5"4.
i know for sure i will grow even more ....
as my mum is a bit taller and my dad is about 6"2

I also had the same question. Im 13 and exactly 5 feet tall. My mom was short until high school and now shes like 5'6'' well anyway, i am doing basketball and need to get stronger in my arms and was wondering if i lifted weights if it would affect my growth... what if I only lift small ones like 5 pound weights for a long period of time....?

I just turned 13 and I was weightlifting during summer vacation and I came back from the gym 5 days a week sore all over and I built a lot of muscle. Now I go to some retarded school with tons of homework. I have gotten weaker but taller. I also hit punching bags and stuff boxing kind of stuff until my friend told me that the weights would stunt my growth. I for some reason have huge legs though lot of muscle and I never excercised my legs except for some treadmill and stuff but dammmn their huge. Why Is that?

im 14, bout 5ft 2, i have been lifting weights for about 6months. my upper body has really toned, for the first time today in the gym an instructor came up to me and said i shouldnt be lifting such a heavy weight at my height and age. he said stick to cardiovascular stuff.
everyone says different things and my friends dad who is a doctor said its a myth.
should i carry on lifting weights? and also what about protein shakes?

iam 16 but short 161cm tall and only weigh 46 kg so i started doing weights to stop getting pushed around ive been doing them for a couple of weeks and i struggled to bench 45 know in 2 weeks i can push out 70 kg wich is nearly double my wieght and i am scared because it might stunt mygrowth what sould i do

ok im 14 like 5 foot 6 inches weigh 155 and i bench 175 and squat 210. i work out running one week and the next lifting weights. will i still grow if i do this over and over for a while until freshman football starts?

weight lifting only affects height if you are putting to much weight on your body and people that are still growing(like me i am 14) should not do certain exercising like bench pressing or exercises above the head, and it is better to do less pounds and more repetition
