Good Lord, so it is my gallbladder! I have had a two-day hangover and just Googled "gallbladder hangover" to find this thread. I feel like death and can't concentrate on work. My arms are trembling and I can't touch any food. I'm forcing lots of water to flush my system, but nothing helps!

At least alcohol is something we can live without. I'm a diabetic, had to learn to live without sugar - now just need to live without fatty / greasy food and add alcohol to that list. Talk about clean living. Where is the nearest monestary? XD

I had my gall bladder removed and tried drinking also. I didn't have severe vomiting, but I have had a moderate hangover feeling for two days following the drinking event.

I thought maybe it was a fluke, but after the second trial, the same feeling won't go away. Before, a hangover would last maybe 15 hours (If I had a lot to drink), but here I've only had a 4-6 beers each time.

I'm actually feeling very positive about this, now I'll have an excuse to remind me to not drink.

I had my gall bladder out 7 weeks ago, and was drinking beer by the 5th day. I do seem to get drunk a little quicker, but they could be the water pills I'm taking for high blood pressure. Everyone is different. My gallbladder hasn't been working for 3 years or more, so I think my body adjusted before surgery. Good Luck though.

Hi, I haqd my gallbladder remover 10 years ago, in my late 30s. I was a fun loving single woman...fairly small, and like to drink socially. the loss of the gall bladder never bothered me food wise (well after the 1st month), but drinking did. I didn't equate it to the gall balldr (or lack of) as the illness was sporatic. But it was DRASTIC. Only on the next day, after having 2 or more drinks...o sick, both ways..sometimes thought I should go to the hospital. But, stupidly, I would still imbibe..some...as it was not always a 1 to 1 correlation...drinking didn't always make me sick. Well, now, in the last few years. On top of it, I took tamoxifen, for cancer..and I've read posts that also makes people unusually ill after drinking. Well, now I positively know, from readind these posts that is is the lack of my gall bladder.I justcan't drink. Even 1 -2 drinks make me sick the next day (never that night) , VIOLENTLY sick...for 10-20 hours. So hopefully NOW, I will be SMART enough to just NOT drink! I am no alcoholic, but it is hard, when all the social functions and dinners have people DRINKING. and I guess I do have a problem, as I find them all boring unless I have a drink or 2. BUT NOW I KNOW...I just can't drink.
I am glad I stumbled onto this site.

I am sorry to hear all your experiences, I could always drink a fair bit before the operation, afterwards I got reflux, still do at times when I drink but some hot chips usually fixes it, and I can drink life a supe fish now, it used to take 6 full strength beers to get me slightly jolly now its like 12. I also dont seem to get stupid with it either given the amounts I can now consume, has anyone else had this experience?

I had my gallbladder out. I still drink my share though, which is probably a bit more than the normal person. I'm 25 years old, and the only problems I seem to have are after a good night of drinking, the next day I have to go to the bathroom right after eating. That might also have something to do with the hot wings and pizza we usually order at the bar. I drink beer (bud lt, coors lt, corona, landshark, bud lt lime, ext..) and hard alcohol mixed with soda, usually captain and coke/ captain and ginger, or shots, tequila, jack, jameson, bacardi, and I love my blackberry brandy with coke or just straight. A normal night out on the weekend I can have anywhere between 5 and 10 drinks and shots on top of that, and I'm alright. Soo I guess for the people worried about drinking after gallbladder removal, you just have to try it. I did wait a few weeks to drink, as It took a little while for my body to get used to it enough where i could eat all the good foods I love, and there are still some i have to watch. All in all, its not so bad though. Enjoy your drinks!

I was so glad to find this website. I had my gall bladder taken out last year at age 38 and I was 7 months pregnant. It has been about 9 moths and I ended up having a stillbirth at 8 months. They are not sure why, not sure if from surgery.
But my stomach is always torn up. I like to drink vodka and oj and my stomach hurts a lot the next day. But now it just hurts all the time. I have little red pieces of something in my stool, do any of you have that?
I have to sleep on my stomach with my fist pushing on my lower stomach to relieve the pain. And my hangovers are longer but I have always had that problem so I can't tell if its worst all though they suck sometimes. Sometimes not to bad with the vodka (potato).
any feed back would be appreciated.

I'm 22 years old and I had my gallbladder taken out a little over 3 years ago. i never asked them what would happen if I drank after the surgery because I wasn't 21 and was nervous about them lecturing me, but I think I'll have to talk to my doctor next time I go in.

I haven't had the two day hangover, but every now and then when I drink, my stomach starts cramping in the top quadrant and in my back directly behind that spot. It's exactly like how my stomach would cramp when having a gallbladder attack and it's really scary. It's not as severe, and it only lasts about 20 minutes, but I'm trying to figure out what's going on. I'm glad I found this forum so I know I'm not the only one. If anyone goes to the doctor and finds out what's wrong, please let us know!

I had My Gall Bladder removed 9 years ago.

The Surgeon came into the room and said > I need to warn you about something Important , what ever you do > Don't ever drink any kind of Alchaol with NO G.B.

He said your body is Unable TO process the Alchaol without the use of a G.B.

He said you can get dangerously ill if you do that regardlessly.

I use to love Marguritas , Chi Chi's , Kaluha and Cream.
Haven't had them in 9 years.

If you chose to drink anyway , You might get Horribly ill.

It's Not Worth it.

I had my Gall Bladder removed about 9 years ago , and the Surgeon came in to see me after I recovered and he told me > I need to tell you something extremely Important , What ever you do , if you use to like an ocassional Alchaolic beverage , you can NEVER Drink any again because your body can Not Break It Down and Process it.

I use to Love Marguritas , Chi Chi's , and Kaluha and Cream.
Haven't had one in over 9 years. Sure miss them.

But I value my health and would never risk it because he said if you ignore his warning , you will be deathly ill and can actually suffer Alchaol poisoning.
