I had my galbladder out over 5 years ago. I sometimes lose and sometimes win when I drink. Most of the time lose. Severe abd pain with vomiting and diarrhea. Usually the morning after. I dont feel hung over just sick as c**p. I considured that I was getting older and a doctor told me that women don't tolerate as much alcohol as men and the amount you can tolerate as you get older decreases. So I am lucky somedays if i can handle 1 drink. I just stopped for the most part. 1 I am usually ok with 2 i have issues.

I experienced the two-day hangover. I was a friend's party the other night and I had way too much to drink which I've done before but that was before I had my gallbladder removed. That time I got really drunk and vomitted once, passed out and felt fine the next day.

The other night I got really drunk very quickly and I was in the bathroom vomitting for three hours straight with uncontroloable shaking and pain. Then like I said I had a hangover for two days after. I wasn't able to eat much and my stomach hurt bad for those two days. I did the water thing too. You just need another day or so till you feel better. Just let it run it's course. You should be careful with how much you drink from now on it will probably have the same affect if you over do it. Hope you feel better soon. :D

I'm so glad to hear that there are other people in the same boat as me, when it comes to consuming alcohol after having your gallbladder removed. I had surgery 4 months ago, and I still can't seem to stomach alcohol. Granted I wasn't much of a drinker before the surgery... but now after two glasses of champagne, I wake up the next morning with a hangover headache and stomachache as if I had drank 5-6 hard alcoholic drinks the night before.

I think I'm going to try less sugary drinks, and mix it with coke or diet coke like some other people suggested... crossing my fingers!

I'm so relieved to see other's have this problem! I had my gallbladder removed about a year ago and drank for the first time 2 weeks ago and was sick for the entire weekend after. Since I only had 1 margarita, it never occured to me that it could have been the alchohol! At the time I thought I had food poisoning. Not knowing any better, I had 2 glasses of wine last night at our business retreat dinner and am embarrassed to say I had to leave our business meeting 3 times this morning to be sick and finally gave up and had to go home. Now I have to face my co-workers on Monday not knowing what they think! Having my gallbladder removed was an emergency surgery procedure, but I still don't understand why the doctors didn't tell me what could or couldn't be done afterwards.

I literally had my gallbladder removed this morning and the aftercare paper they sent home said to avoid alcohol for 24 hours! I was shocked...now I'm paranoid to drink after reading all these people's stories :-(

I had my gall bladder out on 12/14, and have had no problems with alcohol (unless I consumed too much, in which case I knew what I was in for).

As others have said, it all depends on the individual's body. Tread lightly, and if you're not feeling great the next day - drink plenty of water, have some juice, rest if you can, and if you have "spinning" then I've heard Benadryl can help that (it's broken down by your body into the same effective component of motion sickness pills).

I had my gallbladder out about 2 months ago. I have drank a couple times since then. Once I had only beer, and was really pretty drunk but didn't get sick. Once I had only wine and ended up back in the ER. Last night I had a mixture, wine and beer and didn't allow myself to go to the ER but I definitely should have. It hurts so bad. It's just like a gallbladder attack. I actually threw up this morning for quite a while. Not that there was anything to throw up though. It makes me really consider ever drinking again. It's so bad. I knew it was an option before I drank last night, but hey...I'm single, live in a new state, don't know anyone and had a bad day...what are my options?

I had my gallbladder removed in 07, after some test revealed it wasn't working. I drink alcohol and sometimes up to a case of beer. My gallbladder or where my gallbladder once was does cause minor pain like a constant cramp in that area after heavy drinking. Other than that I can eat almost anything I want, however I do have cramps(the only way to describe the feeling) in my gallbladder area sometimes. I exercise frequenlty though. I might go back to the doctor and check if one of the staples came out.

I'm 25 years old had my gb removed just over a month ago now. I used to be able to drink and drink and drink, never feel ill, or get drunk or anything. Since the removal, every time i try to drink I vomit, I feel like an alcoholic whose taking those pills to make them sick if they drink. I'd rather have the gall bladder episode pain, then vomiting left right and centre. I'm young I want to enjoy it. Some one mentioned ARTICHOKE TABLETS, does anyone know where to get these from?

I had my gall bladder out last month. Went back to the doc. yesterday asked him about drinking alcohol now if it would make me sick like I have been reading on here. He told me he has done hundreds of these surgerys and has never heard of anyone having problems with drinking alcohol. Said his brother and mother had their gall bladders removed and they both still drink. He even told me before I left to return to my normal life and to go have a drink it wouldnt make me sick. I haven't yet but being that he is a doctor that takes gall bladders out all the time and has never had anyone to complain about drinking and being really sick since their surgery I think that most of the people must have another underline problem. Good luck to all.

I got my gallbladder removed when I was 18, freshmen year of college, and well before that I did drink in hs and it took A LOT to get me intoxicated and I rarely ever got sick. Now a days if I drink anything I get the worst headaches for the next two days, and I get drunk must faster. It pretty much ruined my street cred, but hey it will be less expensive to drink out I guess.
