I had a similar experience. I have always been ok with alcohol. Never had a hangover etc etc. Before the surgery I would have a bottle of wine with my mum on a Friday night and be fine. However, after the surgery I found it have me headaches and was unusually effective.
However, now a month later I am fine. I am wondering if it has a lot to do with remnants of anaesthetic in yr body or the painkillers? I made sure not to try alcohol until i was a week clear of the drugs.

Hello and thank you so much for your replies! Since my posting he has moved on to another type of alcohol and tried Jack Daniels (Whiskey) and diet coke, and everything was fine! He has tried it on the last 3 occassions and had no problems. Of course, he hasn't went overboard with it and drank more than a couple of drinks at a time, but it settled with no problems. We are so glad that he finally found something. We are wondering if maybe it's because the other drinks naturally have alot more sugar in them. He didn't try Jack before now as we assumed that would be the hardest on his stomach of anything, but that's certainly not the case.
I hope you guys are as fortunate! I would be interested to know if it worked for you, too!
i thought no booze for a month after op then small amouts slowly maybe a month had passed
It's been almost 2 years since my GB was removed. I like to have two beers each evening (max) but I ALWAYS get cramps and diarrhea the next day.

I should research online earlier. The "sickness" is not the result of alcoholism; it is from the gallbladder removal. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
My husband was a good drinker 3 years before. After the surgery, if he drinks more than two glasses of wine, beer, "white" drink, then he will SICK for the next 4 days. For example, he will sleep in the bathroom and talk/walk funny, just like a disability person. At the time, I thought it was the result of too much alcohol. Now, I know.
Is there anything he can do to go back and drink? he did not want to stop drinking.
