I've been experiencing this problem for about the past two months. It's not because of sex, I know, since I have not had sex in a while. When the dry skin flakes off, the skin bleeds. I bought a lotion very high in Borage Oil at the health store and applying this has helped. (Borage Oil is good fro dry skin.) I'm not confident that this is the long-term answer, although it sure has made the itchiness diminish. When my dermatologist returns to work on Wednesday (She only works Wed.-Fri.), I'm going to arrange to see her for an answer. Once I do, I'll let you know what she says.
Just to let anyone know, I (MisterEmDee) left this post but had forgotten to sign in. It directly relates to my post from four days earlier.
Eat probiotics, Threelac or Fivelac is the best. Apply diluted tea tree oil to the area. In a couple of months your problem will go away.
"In a couple of months your problem will go away," you say. That's way too long. I followed my dermatologist's directions and am almost completely fine already. Plus, the pain went away almost instantly.
This is exactly what happens to me, I scratch, it peels. Leave it for a day or so and it regrows. Then at night i cannot stop myself from itching, and I'm back to square one. I'm 13 so i cant use anything. Best tips please?
try Head &Shoulders shampoo.worked for me.
I too have this issue. Itchiness, dry skin, very flaky - particularly after a night of scratching. But i seem to have across a home remedy / cure. Firstly, keep your fingernails short to avoid too much "damage" with overnight scratching. I use a combination of an anti-fungal cream, like Daktarin, and baby nappy rash cream, like Bepanthen. Come night time, i take an antihistimine - hay fever medicine is good for this, like Zyrtec - to stop any scratching at night.
A combination of all these will offer some relief. Keep these up even after symptons disappear.
