The right side of my neck was very sore and grew progressively more so in 2 days...the pain radiated down from my ear-side of my face and down the side of my neck. It didn't hurt to swallow, but it really hurt when I turned my neck a certain way. I had allergy symptoms, but no stuffy nose or sore throat. Went to Dr. who didn't see any typical symptoms...just said it was probably a pulled muscle of some kind and I could have some muscle relaxers if that would help. I said it didn't feel like a muscle problem...he said he didn't think it could be strep, but if I really wanted I could have the test done just in case. Because it hurt so much, I decided it couldn't hurt to have it checked out. Am I glad I did, turns out it was just at the beginning of strep...so close they had to look at it closely to decide. If I hadn't had the test done then, I would have gone home and not gone back exposing people to strep without even knowing I had it. I certainly wasn't going to go back to the Dr. a second time for a $40 pop to tell me it was nothing. If your instincts tell you it is something even when the Dr. says no, sometimes you could be right. I'm on antibiotics for now.

I had the exact same thing happened to me. I have had strep throat before so I know exactly what the symptoms were. My doctor wasn't listening to me. I insisted on having the strep and they told me the same thing that it was barely on stage. You are the best arbitrator of your help. Never be afraid to go with your instincts.
