I hope someone can help me out. I have just gone thru a bad bout with insomnia. I have been on quite a few medications thru the last 4 years. The insomnia came about just as I was comming down with some type of bacterial infection. The doctor put me on cipro. I have been on it for about 5 days now. Yesterday was very bad, evey time I walk i get these "shocking" feelings thru my head and body. I am also suffering from bad back problems and have been on everything from fentenyl, percocet, and I am comming off of a few weeks of methadone. I have been off the metadone for about 3- 4 weeks now, and the doctor has put me on Gabentin. I was to take it 3 times a day, but could not tolerate it ,so he told me just take it at night for now. I feel like i am going to crawl out of my skin on some days. This whole feeling of getting the "electric shock feeling" is very scary.I hope someone out there may have some type of an answer for what this might be. PLEASE HELP.

It is likely anxiety. Please read old fashioned but valuable book by Dr. Claire Weekes, a pioneer in "nervous disorders". Called "Hope and Help for Your Nerves". It will transform you... I had no idea that stress pressure could build up, but it can.

I take Zoloft and colotapan. I didnt pay much attention to when these shocks happen around my meds until today. I am going to start writing it down. I have missed s few days of taking my zoloft and today as I walked I had that shocking feeling in the bottom of my feet and then up to my head. It doesnt last long. But may happen a few times. Its sporadic but i am going to pay attention to see if it happens when i don't take my meds.
I take no mess but have the same problem.
I went through something similar but it was when i was going to bed at night. Dr. prescribed me a benzodiazepine. It worked. Be careful though because taking benzos with certain pain killers or other narcotics is extremely dangerous expecially methadone. It sounds like ur having bad withdrawl and severe anxiety but i am not a Dr. I encourage you to talk with your Dr. and be truthful about all medications you are on!
I have been going through these electrical shock feelings for about a year now. It started out in my right leg when I would go to bed for the night, now it is all over my body, from the bottom of my feet to the top of my head, and they happen throughout the day.
I do not take any medication and my doctor has not given me any ideas as to what it could be.
Does anyone know of any way to ease these shock feelings?
I get migraines and at time I feel like elc. shocks are running from my toe to my head, not long after a migraine comes on
I truly hope you're symptoms have been resolved, but on the off chance that they haven't.....ask your doc to check your thyroid. Not just the TSH but also the free T3. All of the symptoms that you mentioned can be caused by an over active thyroid. Best of luck
Yes this just happened to me. A lot going on in my life and forgot my Zoloft for days and this happens to me.
Look up Serotonin syndrome
I am weening myself off of my meds because those feelings are getting worse. Plus i feel like somethin is crawling everywhere.
I am feeling that feeling right now and have been for 2 days, I have a herniated disc in my back and my de has me on gabapentin as well and honestly after reading post after post of the same symptoms I am starting to think that it is the nerve blocker that is doing this to me. The best way I can describe it is it extends through my head and into my arms down to my fingers like I hit my funny bone on both arms and feels like rain hitting the inside of my skin.
Anyone else try a beta blocker to control this?
