Electric shock feeling thru whole body

I hope someone can help me out. I have just gone thru a bad bout with insomnia. I have been on quite a few medications thru the last 4 years. The insomnia came about just as I was comming down with some type of bacterial infection. The doctor put me on cipro. I have been on it for about 5 days now. Yesterday was very bad, evey time I walk i get these "shocking" feelings thru my head and body. I am also suffering from bad back problems and have been on everything from fentenyl,percocet, and I am comming off of a few weeks of methadone. I have been off the metadone for about 3- 4 weeks now, and the doctor has put me on Gabentin. I was to take it 3 times a day, but could not tolerate it ,so he told me just take it at night for now. I feel like i am going to crawl out of my skin on some days. This whole feeling of getting the "electric shock feeling" is very scary.I hope someone out there may have some type of an answer for what this might be. PLEASE HELP.

My Dr prescribed effexor to me also, and it worsened my fibro symptoms! I stopped taking it and have consistently shocked all over, even through my head...ugh! I also had a full hysterectomy a year ago and cannot take hormones due to intolerance... no hormones, no serotonin... I'm at my wits end! I understand how ya'll feel

Very helpful for me. I have been on Klonopin 1-2mg one pill at night for sleep(PTSD, anxiety, insomnia) for years. I quit taking them cold turkey four nights ago and the last three nights I get woken up by 2am with electric shocks starting in my toes, then my leg until it has pretty much traversed my entire body, runging in my ears and a buzzing vibration feeling in mt legs and feet. I just lay there trying to calm myself and hope it is not something worse. It slows and mostly stops after an hour then I fall back asleep. It is very painful. I am female 49. Thanks for your post. I suppose stopping this med cold turkey is what might be my problem. Thank you.

Chantix also gave me that feeling. I stopped taking it. Do you have neuropathy which can cause those electrical shock feelings.

Thanks, this sets me at ease as I am tapering off of just 60mg Duloxetine 1 x a day, used to be 2 x's a day but it made my liver panel go extreme! I've decided on my own to stop due to diarrhea as a cause. Now Day 7 I'm getting ELETRICAL SHOCKS running through my arms and legs and worse when I reach or stretch!!

Thanks, this sets me at ease as I am tapering off of just 60mg Duloxetine 1 x a day, used to be 2 x's a day but it made my liver panel go extreme! I've decided on my own to stop due to diarrhea as a cause. Now Day 7 I'm getting ELETRICAL SHOCKS running through my arms and legs and worse when I reach or stretch!!

Hi my name is Rachel Light, I don't know all of your symptoms and I have been trying my hardest from different foods, energy drinks, and it just finally came down to ONE DULOXETINE an antidepressant! They at first had me on an overdose f 4x's a day then realized "OOOPS" Then I had Liver an Gallbladder problems, (Someone who would have been a BAD Alcoholic) I don't drink! My Kidneys & Liver Panel were so high for so long that the next step was to cut me open for a biopsy! If the tests weren't in "ordr" then it had to e done! I just this month August 2017 started tapering off of just 60mg Duloxetine 1 x a day, used to be 2 x's a day but it made my liver panel go extreme! I've decided on my own to stop due to diarrhea as a cause. Now Day 7 I'm getting ELETRICAL SHOCKS running through my arms and legs and worse when I reach or stretch!! So fom reading these posts I'm pretty sure this is a withdrawal effect!

I am as of this moment goin through the exact same thing. It's terrifying to me to feel electric shocks throughout my brain. An I am havin such loud ringing and heaviness in my ears and tingling numbness In my fingers. it's so bad I have no clue what it is. I am on no medications. But under a loadful of stress An Anxiety ...So maybe stress?? I can't see that happening cause I'm always stressed An nothing has ever done this. I'm a female 39 yrs old. Tough build eat somewhat healthy but I do smoke a ok a day. I gave birth 21 mos ago An had every test in the book An am healthy so I'm completely baffled here. Does anyone out there know??
Gabapentin and effexor both were the cause of my experiences. Different times in life, but certain medications, those especially, have zaps as a potential side effect. It sucks.
