I'm very disappointed in having the hysterectomy. Besides not having to go pee as often...I am not seeing a lot of difference in the pain and cramps I was experiencing before the surgery.
Every women I talked to before I had the surgery ALL said that they felt like NEW women and they were so happy that they had a hysterectomy. I don't get it...I feel just as crappy as I did before.
Any advice?
I had a hysterectomy 3 months ago (had 3 ovarian cysts) now with one ovary left. I have been experiencing "menstrual cramps" every month.
It turns out that, considering that I had endometriosis (had to have IVF done and had twins) - the lining / tissue of the womb is "weak" / damaged - these "menstrual" cramps will always affect me because of that and not connected to the hysterectomy.
I've been advised to take buscopan or myprodol to relieve the pain - it helps.
I had my surgery 7 months ago and just a few days ago started feeling cramps and such I thought I was going nuts. Now I see maybe its normal?? But my surgery was bc I had endmerios that causes my bad cramps and omg my cramps are as bad as they used to be. WTH
I had a partial hysterectomy due to fibroids/cysts and both ovaries still present. FOUR YEARS on ..the cramping pains.and other symptoms have slowly become much worse. Asked my doc it I was still ovulation as the pains get worse the same time every month..NO was the answer we have checked your blood and definitely not ovulation. Been for ultra sound scan (internal one) was much too painful to proceed..so then had C125 BLOOD TEST for cancer cells...negative...had MRI scan and awaiting results...Im 54 and apparently higher risk for ovarian cancer due to the cysts!!!! My question is..then why leave my ovaries in if there is a risk. IF YOU WANT MY ADVICE...DO NOT LEAVE IT THINKING "OH IT WILL GO AWAY OR EASE OFF" GO TO YOUR G.P. ASKED TO BE REFERRED TO A GYNO A.S.A.P.
i had a hysterectomy 15 years ago with one ovary left. last year the lower part of my stomach, legs and also breast began to cramp as if i was on my period. this lasted about 2 weeks before going to the doctor. dr. did a sonagram found nothing wrong with the remaining ovary. after another week of cramping the pain just stopped. another year has come and it has started again i have no idea what's going on with my body,any one have any answers?
What is your age? Only ask as hormones may have something to do with this. May be your body going through the 'time'.
I have both of my ovaries and I get period cramps and breast tenderness monthly still at what would be my time of my month.
You should make another doc appointment to let him know about the unusual cramping again - some more testing should be done again to get to the bottom of it, including blood work and such.

Last year 2-13-14 (33 yrs old) had a full hysterectomy and the last few days I have had cramps and this morning when I wipped there was blood. I'm freaking out. What could this be, why? waiting on my doctor's office to opena dngive then a call..
I had a hysterectomy 9 months ago at age 45 but they left both my ovaries. I still ovulate (I have PCOS) so it's easy to feel the ovulation pain. I have also had an ovarian cyst burtst which was by far the worse pain I ever endured.
I still experience "period" symptoms every month and one month I had light bleeding (about 6 months) after hysterectomy.
My doctor told me I had A LOT of endo and he said that was probably what was still causing the cramping and pain. Apparently they can never really get all of it and it responds just like it did when I still had a uterus.
I still have ALL my PMS symptoms and cramping now for 2 - 3 days a month as opposed to the 5 - 6 days before the surgery. I have bad cramping my lower back and legs still. I just wish I knew this BEFORE I went through surgery. Sometimes I think it was worth it and other times I don't.
Best of luck ladies and if you haven't had a hysterectomy be sure to bring this up to your doctor first to see what options you might have and also to see if you should expect this after your surger
