Honestly, I did not understand well the doctor’s explanation and after that I was a bit embarrassed to ask anything so I am asking in this way. Can you explain me the basics of the breast self exam?
Breast self exam is done once in a month. Usually it is the tenth day of the menstrual cycle. The breasts in that period should be under the weakest influence of the hormones. The exam is done by palpating the breast, one at the time, with the opposite hand while the other hand is stretched above the head. There are three areas that should be examined and if there is some change the doctor has to be informed immediately.
