Have you found anything that helps? I have a five year old daughter and she is going thru the same thing?

My son, who just turned 4, has this problem. I thought I was alone but from what I read, I'm not. EVERY morning is like a scene from World War II. Its horrible. My son usually ends up having a huge melt down and cries until he gets on the bus. I end up screaming, crying and pulling my hair out because I'm in fear that we will miss the bus or I will be late to work because he changes clothes a million times. His sock seams aren't perfect on his toes, or his pants feel weird or his shirt is hurting him. He refuses to wear a fleece shirt because its too soft.Too soft, Seriously? He is slow on his vocabulary and speech, however he has a mild case of being tounge tied so we expected speech might be an issue. Socially, ehh, he's not sitting in a cornor by himself but I wouldn't say he has a normal interaction with kids for his age. He has an sister he plays well with and a younger brither who he plays very well with. He loves to cuddle and his back scratched. I would say clothes is the biggest issue with him, however, other things as well. Such as his blanket. He has to go everywhere with his blanket. I don't think that's normal for a 4 year old. Also, food. I was a pickey eater but my son takes it to extreme. He won't even eat his favorite food if mashed potatoes are on his plate, or another food that he dislikes. Is this a disorder? I don't think he has a sensory problem, because one day a shirt is fine the next day the sleeves are too short on him and he refuses to wear it. I woukd think a sesory disorder would be consistant but maybe im wrong.I think he is just overly particular with things. My husband thinks he has a mild case of autism. I strongly disagree. Regardless we set up an appointment to have him evaluated. I will update if we find answers!

My 9 year old granddaughter has 2 pair of pants that she will wear and that is it! They are gaucho style very wide pants that I purchased at chasing fireflies but they have a lot of ruffles at the bottom that I had to cut off because that bugged her, which then made them Capri length. She has been switching between these two all winter because I can't for the life of me find gaucho width pants for girls that are full length and not Capri in a simple soft cotton material that she can stand. I finally took her to the fabric store and she picked out some fabric that she thinks she will be able to stand against her legs and I took them along with one of the pairs of pants that she will wear, to a seamstress to try to duplicate them adding on the additional length. We are waiting for them to be finished. Crossing my fingers with any luck that she will be able to wear any of them!

My granddaughter is the same way...one day she will be able to wear something fine and the next day, she can't stand it on. Some days, she will go to school wearing the same pants 3 days in a row. PLEASE don't yell and scream at him! It doesn't do either of you any good. All it does is start yours and his day out feeling horrible. Choose your battles...in the big picture of life, what does it matter what he is wearing to schooled long as it's safe? And believe me, I am speaking this from experience and going thru the same exact things as everyone here for 7 years . I keep in communication with the teacher at school. They know of her sensory integration disorder and try helping her while at school with coming in contact with different textures. But that's all you can do, is be supportive to your child. They DO NOT want to be like this! There are a lot of adults who cant stand turtle neck tops against their necks because they feel like they are choking or suffocating. Now tell a child they not only have to put this on, but they have to leave home with it on with no opportunity of taking it off for 8 hours. Stress then, exacerbates or magnifies the initial feelings. This is torture for these children and so many adults are just saying its behavioral. It is NOT behavioral! This is a very real disorder. The good news is that usually kids grow out of it as they get older. It doesn't necessarily go away, but they learn how to cope better. The good has to outweigh the bad. A perfect example of this is why do women wear shoes that kill their feet or squeeze into tight skinny jeans?? Because they love the way they look in them. The look outweighs the comfort. My child wanted to keep her pajamas on to go to school because they were more comfortable. I used to fight and fight and fight! Exhausting! Crying, sobbing frustrating. I spoke to her teacher and we decided to just send her to school in pajamas. It took 1 day of another child coming up to her asking her why she is wearing her pajamas to school?? Never had a single fight again about wearing pajamas to school. It's called natural consequences. The same with wearing summer clothes in winter?? What's really the big deal? They will get cold and then the bad outweighs the good. Bottom line....choose your battles! And be supportive! Know that this is just as frustrating and horrible for them as is you and work together for solutions instead of against each other! Hope this helps. I feel your pain

My 9 year old granddaughter started out the same way with not wanting wear anything with elastic, buttons, zippers, etc. no underwear, socks pants, sneakers, shirts with sleeves . It started around 3 yo and gradually got worse. There was so much fighting and sobbing, and screaming melt downs. It was horrible. We finally decided to let her be. She doesn't want to be like this! She will pick something at the store and promise she will wear it and then at home, she tries and just sobs. The mornings were terrible trying to get ready for school. I finally told my daughter to just let her wear what she wants. In the big picture of life, what does it matter? Choose your battles! Her teacher is aware of her disorder and tries to work with her with different textures at school, too. She will sometimes wear the same pair of pants 3 days in a row to school, but there is no more fighting and crying and melt downs in the morning. Being supportive, is the best thing you can do for your daughter and working together to find things that work instead of battling against each other.

Hey guys, I'm 26 and I have the same problem. It appeared suddenly when I was taking Lamictal last year and hasn't gone away. It feels like ants are crawling all over me when I wear tight clothing or have hair in clothes.... Please, if anything for you worked, please help. I'm so tired of this and I just want to die.

Don't whip your child. don't let anyone else whip your child. You can see that this is a problem that she shares with other children.

What other signs should we look for in ocd? I looked it up but it doesn't really seem to fit our child. But what you mentioned does. Would love to hear more about your experience.

Hi Marcy,
Wow a lot of people have this same issue. My now 9 year old has had the same thing. When she was smaller I couldn't keep clothes on her. So, I just let her run around naked a lot. If she didn't want to wear jammies, I'd turn on the heater and let her sleep. Just like everyone said it's the seams on the clothing. the stiching in the jeans, the painted decorations on shirts, and the tags. Why can't manufacturers place care instructions on a package that can be ripped off after purchase.

I am very interested. I am at my wits end with my daughter! She is in her room crying right now because she refuses to get dressed. For about 6 months she has not worn underpants. I have tried half a dozen different kinds but she ends up crying everytime. Usually, once she is dressed she will be fine but she will only wear leggings. No jeans, no pants with buttons.....sigh. Help!!!
