Im 62 and have had this problem for a couple of months now. But Im having diarrhea. I have this aweful odor also. My 2 year old great grand daughter could smell it and asked what it was. I had a ct scan done and was told I had Colitis.Which is an infection in the colon and it was inflamed and was put on meds for 10 days. Well after 3 weeks I went back to the Dr and he gave me meds for diarrhea to take 4 times a day for 10 days. If that dont work hes gonna send me to a GI. I was told I had a very mild case and could eat anything I want. But the odor is still there. Was told it takes time. I just want this disrrhea and odor to go away and never come back !
Hey. My name is Mellisia. I read your story on hear. I too..sometimes smell like fish..burnt rubber..my bowel movements smell like Raw Sewage..no joke. But this only happened 14yrs ago after I had gastric bypass surgery..I have to wear lots and lots of perfumes and body lotions to mass my body odors. My doctors are very unconcerned..but I am very afraid.
I also have the feces odor after I had a resection done to my colon after a colonoscopy . this is very bothersome I am a check out at a store .I know if I can smell myself everybody else can also .hope someone figures it out soon

Hi. We're experiencing same complaints. I was diagnosed with diverticulosis giving that horibble smell. I was given 10 day course of antibiotics. Then it was resolved. Now i am on a current flare up taking the same antibiotic. Hope have your time to check with your doctor.
I had this problem. I found that using a ginger tea and or probiotic helps rid the problem. Fresh ginger tea or tea bags on the go. Blk coffee or garlic.
Balance the digestive track with probiotic or ginger tea weekly until the smell goes away. Blk coffee will help until you get those item.

Unfortunately most GPs won't have come across TMAU unless they choose to remain available to latest medical research. I remember speaking to my GP 15 years ago and I was laughed out of surgery on the basis that I could provide evidence of it being a real condition via internet. Remember GPs are trained to be skeptical of these types of odour, some will advise you on how to wash, yeah right doc. Sadly only through the online community you'll get most of your support. It would appear to be an imbalance in the gut. Why do colonoscopy help, this because of the laxative taken for the inspection, but once resume eating those foods in the past the smell will return, unless the right combination of supplements, medication and real food is taken
I wanted to comment to your story, since it is just like mine. I too notice the foul odor at a very young age. I started to tell my grandmother and mother and she begin to take me to the doctor. They could not find anything wrong. I was 13 when I first notice it. I eventually dropped out of high school because of the very, very odor my body was giving. People would yell at me that I stink. I have been in and out of mental hospital where they also tried to make me think it was all in my head. The older I got the worst the smell got. At the age of 39, I was finally diagnose with Graves disease (thyroid disease) which explained the very loud bad smelling menstruation cycles. About 3 years later, I was diagnosed with diverticulitis. It finally started to make sense, but the odor was still there. I take medication, eat healthy and workout. Along with drinking lots of water. It has gotten better, I am able to keep a job, but I still have bad days. It is a constant battle and it has effected my life tremendously.
Have you found a cure or figured out how to control the foul odor smell it's destroying my social life. I barely leave my house
I asked the ENT was there anything that could help tbr smell from the nose and he prescribed Tranxene. I helped for a while but it’s so frustrating that that odor is coming up
