I've tried everything with being hydrated and drinking lots of water to taking vitamins and nothing has worked
This is the short version and what worked -YES this will go away! I had symptoms of red, swollen, tingling, peeling, cracking lips. Other symptoms that may or may not be related included swollen nose, oily face, sensitivity to light, and brain fog. My lips would swell at odd times and for no reason. I had recently become a vegetarian and had cut a mango and ate from the pit and then went outside. This happened a few weeks prior to the initial symptoms and doctors thought it was mango poisoning but this went on for years! I will tell you what worked and what didn't work. I ultimately think it was a bacterial infection most likely caused from vitamin deficiency although blood tests did not reveal any deficiencies. Perhaps I will never know but I would like to share my story to help ensure that no one ever has to go through years of suffering like I did.
Did NOT work: steroids, liquid Benadryl, allergy pills, Mupirocin topical antibiotic, changing toothpastes, changing laundry detergent, etc., oil pulling.
Started working: Praying and increasing my faith, oral Cephalex antibiotic and taking tablet vitamins B12, D3, Calcium, Biotin, and Iron, gargle with salt water and brush your tongue with salt water, praying and increasing my faith!
Please note I am not a doctor and you should consult a doctor but if nothing works for you then suggest what DID work for me to your doctor and start healing yourself. Please note symptoms might get worse before they get better as whatever this is exits your body but you WILL eventually get better and WILL have normal lips that do not peel again!!! Side note - resist the urge to bite/peel your lips for them to get better and do not use anything on them - no chapstick, etc. After getting better, I only use a non-mineral oil based children's chapstick in the very middle of my lips. (Have not tried testing the waters with anything else since getting better.) Just grateful to be better and to be able to actually smile again and eat without worrying about my lips falling off.

I am a 57 year old male. This lip condition started 2 weeks ago for me right after I took a flu shot being offered for free at my work place. I have used chapstick, abreva, and neosporin...all to no avail. I am also experiencing an increase in fatigue and depression. I was fine before the flu shot. Now I think I need to see a doctor. I have not tried benedryl because the diphenhydramine usually amps me up like restless leg syndrome in my whole body. But this is not only painful, it is embarrassing. My lips are bright red...like I'm wearing lipstick...and it never goes with my outfits! I need some help. Thank you.
I don’t know but I am having the same bouts of swollen burning chapped lips with it extending beyond my lips. I thought dry skin at first, weather issues. Now maybe allergic reaction as I am prone to allergies to medicines. I want an answer. Its ugly and very uncomfortable.
First and foremost, I just want to say thank you soo much! I’ve been experiencing similar symptoms as you and everyone else, on and off, for approximately 8 months now. I’m going to give your suggested remedy a chance and follow back up with you. I noticed our post is dated as over a year ago. Is all still well, or have you had any reoccurring issues since time of your last post? I’d really appreciate if you could provide us with an update. Looking forward to hearing from you... Thanks

Why is it that my lips in the morning are so red as if I had applied lipstick? I'm 73 years old, female with high blood pressure.
If you want to know the secret to getting rid of extremely dry, chapped bleeding lips. Get a tub of Eucerin cream, NOT aquafor, the white cream. Mix in 5 big tablespoons of slippery elm root powder, make sure the elm root is light in color, and from U.S. ( Chinese stuff is dark and doesn’t work). I put some in a small container, to keep in your pocket. Apply constantly, especially at night. It will be gone in less than a week. It’s the only remedy that actually works!!!!
Learned this in Alaska hunting camp!

I have had this condition off and on for 8 months. I had an allergic reaction to a skin cream back then but my lips did not started swelling until after that. I do not believe it is an allergic reaction. My lips are swollen, chapped, and red...the symptoms get worse while sleeping and improve slightly after I get up. At first, it was just my lower lip but not my upper lip is also swelling. I had a dentist press very hard down on my lower lip before it started swelling so I thought it was that. Perhaps it is a bacterial infection? I am patting the lips with salt water and goldenseal; then I apply some aloe vera, then I cover it all with raw organic honey. So, if it is bacterial the goldenseal and honey should take care of it. I only started this in the past week so no long enough to know if it will work. I do see the best results with the aloe and honey; lip color returns to normal and swelling goes down temporally. If anyone goes to a doctor who has a clue please post here.
where do you buy hte slippery elm root?
Did you get vaccinated? Moderna might be the issue
Don't use Vaseline alone! Vaseline works by locking in moisture, if you don't have any then it works for a few minutes and then worsens the problem. Put an oil like castor, coconut, extra virgin olive oil on then put on Vaseline.
Don't over do it though or the dead skin turns to mush and you get an infection

I’ve suffered from the very same things. I blame it in COVID. I was fine until I got COVID.
The key to solving this as I've found is White Petrolatum, and this is after numerous applications of Burts Bees, regular Vaseline, and Aquaphor.
The issue with most standard chapsticks/humectants is that they contain irritants and/or only provide a waxy coating over lips that are at this point already lack the ability to remoisturize themselves. Aquaphor, while good initially, only served to make the burning and itching worse even if it temporarily 'softened' the lips.
Petrolatum is the pure form of Vaseline (essentially medical grade) and contains no irritants. It goes on incredibly smooth and, unlike Vaseline, melts into your lips rather than simply coat them.
My own lips were swollen up to twice their size over the course of a week with intense burning, itching and weeping of this sticky yellow pus that nearly had me check into an emergency room.
In only three days of continuous reapplication when my lips turned dry, they've significantly reduced in size and are near normal! Expect to feel the dead skin during application as time goes on, but do NOT scratch it off! Like a scab, it needs to stay until it comes off naturally (or gets easily rubbed away when carefully applying the Petrolatum). I've been wearing a mask (thanks for making them easily accessible I guess, Covid!) to escape embarrassment.
So yes, White Petrolatum! Seriously the ultra cure for severely chapped lips!
