Is it unusual for an HIV-infected person to progress to AIDS fast? For example two months? I believe that happened to my friend.
On average, a person progresses from infection to AIDS in about seven to 10 years and that is without treatment. In general, the rate of progression seems to be faster for those who are infected through blood contact, rather than through sex, like Transfusion recipients. Hemophiliacs and injection drug users are next fastest, then homosexual men. They tend to progress a little more slowly. Of course, an individual's rate of progression may be quite different.
