So I never reply to these things...but I had to reply just in case my story helps someone!  I am being treated for late stage Lyme Disease - I've been infected for years, many random health problems, but really flared two years ago.  During this time I have gotten extra sick during before and during my period - the body aches, flu-like feeling you all describe (in addition to horrible cramps, hip pain, fatigue, etc.)  In any case, getting tested for lyme disease might be an option, if no other cause is found.  Just be warned - the test they do at the Dr. (the ELISA) is only 40% accurate, and doctors don't know how to treat it.  Google Lyme disease and read to find out more about the ridiculousness.  All of that is to say that, should you choose to get tested, go through IGENEX, a specialty lab in CA.

U have all of my symptoms..I'm even bipolar I'm 34 and i started having flu like symptoms after my 2nd child was born. It would last a couple months after birth and stop. Same as the birth of my 3rd child. Now 3.5 years later I suddenly started having flu like symptoms but that's it no sore throat, colds, fevers. Etc. Just this past month I had mid cycle bleeding for the first time, my periods have always been on time not too heavy and not too bad of cramps. Since the birth of my 3 children my periods even got easier. The first time I had flu like symptoms my Dr. Ordered a LDH level which was normal. I just gave up on the idea cuz there always seems to be something wrong..I'm an oncology nurse with an anxiery/panic disorder..that combination just makes me feel iLife I'm over reacting.. I had an Ultrasound a couple of days ago, just waiting for results..

Women with PMS must read this!. I'm 41, had exactly the same symptoms as you described. After months of nausea, frustration, "Being SICK 2 weeks every month", friends complaining of, "feeling sick before their period", I had to research! After studying the small amount of info available on-line, I realized I had symptoms of Low Progesterone! I bought "Natural Progesterone Cream" from the Health Food store, contains Wild Yam/Soy, it did ease depression and irritability, did nothing for the FLU -Like symptoms. I mentioned this to a co-worker, also a Registered Nurse. She knew exactly what I was talking about! She said the cream will CURE all the symptoms, BUT, it must be "Bio-Identical Progesterone Cream". Almost immediate relief, NO PMS, or migraine, nausea, tingling in my arm,& no muscle stiffness . My Family Prac. prescribed it! I Order online, around $20. Trust me, IT WORKS! Most people, Gyn's included, say its not real. Well, i forgot to order last month, sure enough, I'm sick, nauseas.I called that day to order my cream. So, now that I haven't had it to balance me, I am convinced this is the answer. Let me know how things work out, or if you have rec'd help. Thank u!

See my post/reply on 7/1/12. Bio-Identical hormone replacement therapy, IS THE ANSWER! I'm willing to bet you are Estrogen Dominant, along with low Progesterone. No doctor told me about it. I researched myself, trial and error, finally, NO SYMPTOMS. NO migraines, nausea, stiffness, dizziness, irritability, etc, etc, etc. Seriously, I had ALL these crazy symptoms too. I thought I had every disease known to man. NOT! I am 41, progesterone levels decrease upon onset of menses with all women. Some get an abundance of estrogen causing those horrible mental & physical problems. Let me know how it goes, Spread the word, theres little to NO info on this subject online or in medical books. Like i said, I had to diagnos and treat myself. That says alot about how much effort practitioners put into easing these agonizing symptoms.

I am 27 year old. I have noticed having flu monthlty for 4 months. So terrible. I have been taking medicine everytime. I am very worried about many months ahead. I'm doing Phd, I have a lot of homework and exams. I have been fighting against flu and trying to finish all the exams n homeworks. Really tired, I really want to get cure. I can't stand anymore. More than that I am worried of having any immune disorder or any longterm complication. Please let me know how should I go with it.

It's low iron. Take b12 lozenges (that melt under your tongue) and iron supplements (can be in the form of ground hemp seed or other food that is high in iron). Even if your hemoglobin says your red blood cells are fine, you could still be iron deficient. Ask for a ferritin level test. Anything below 50 or 60 is too low. It is better be at minimum level of 70 or more. Good luck. I have the same problem. My iron deficiency was caused by gluten intolerance and I am in recovery but it takes time to get the body back to optimal absorption. Also, eating a lot of processed foods will deplete iron and other essential nutrients. Shoot for 90/10 - 90% veggies and fruits, 10% everything else. I tell this to people all the time, but most would rather complain about their symptoms than actually change their eating habits. Yet it is the only way to heal from any illness.

Funny that you mention this...at my last appointment my Lyme Dr. put me on bio-identical Progesterone Cream. Just starting it now, so we'll see how it works. But, you're definitely on to something! :)

I also have Thyroid & adrenal issues, which others may want to look into...all these things are connected!

try controling the mind, that is what have everyone sick,do yoga ,always think of god. keep calm. and think positive.

bwuahahaha - sorry but your mind control thing doesn't work. If your body is sick, deficient, overproducing a hormone, etc - no amount of mind control will eliminate symptoms. trying to make people feel guilty because they can't control their health with their mind is condescending and mean. except in cases of severe mental trauma, disease is caused by toxicity and deficiency. Eliminate the toxicity (which reduces absorption of nutrients) and increasing  missing depleted/missing nutrients is the only way to gain control of your health.

i had too many doctors to count tell me i needed counselling and my illness was in my head. i read spiritual guides, i attempted every day to live with gratitude, peace, acceptance. my symptoms did not improve. they got worse. when i did an elimination diet and increased my consumption of fruits and vegetables (instead of nutrient-poor processed c**p) I was healed. I went from being DISABLED to being healthier than anyone I know.

positive thinking can help you cope but it will not heal a body that is in disease due to toxicity and deficiency.

Thank you for this site and for all your experiences. I'm not a hypochondriac, never have been yet getting help with the issues same as you lot, cyclical flu, migraine, encephalopathy - nightmare, loss of cognitive function, dementia like symptoms - terrifying. I will definately speak to my Dr re. progesterone cream. Auto-immune process going on in my opinion for me but getting understanding and help for it is not easy when you're so debilitated. Wish you all speedy relief of suffering and I'll keep looking and posting. Thanks again for all who have written and shared about their symptoms.
