Guys, HOW NOTICABLE are these things really? I asked a couple people "hey do these look like cold sores?" and they thought I was crazy and they couldn't see anything at all. Even when I pointed to the TINY, HIDEOUS dots : P
Maybe we're making too much of this? I know I am. Herpes has been a fear of mine since I can remember. Every time anything pops up in the lip region I'm going "O MY GOD!? IS THAT HERPES!?"
I'm going to the clinic tomorrow and I'm gonna get tested and if it's not an STD I'm gonna leave it alone. I don't think these fordyce spots are noticable at all. What do you guys think? Have you ever asked anyone if they can see them?

I've been using toothpaste on them for about 2 nights in a row and they've been reduced down, i can barely see them. Last night I applied too much (I put about 3 coats on in an hour) and it burned pretty bad, when I woke up my lips were peeling and there was some bloody spots, but they were less noticeable than before. Though it does sting, toothpaste seems to take away some layers of skin that might make the spots more noticeable. Though it seems like i'll probably have to apply a coat on every night until they disappear completely.
good luck!
good luck!
please help i have fordyce spots on my penis im 14 never had sex and i need to get rid of them i need a cure anything i can do myself and i dont have the guts to tell my gf i need to get rid of them anyone pleasse help
Ok so I agree with the person who said this because i have been completely obsessed with the spots since I got them 2 months ago and have asked pretty much everyone I know if they see all the little white bumps on my lips and a bigger bump that looks fuller than the rest of my lip. And it's true-- nobody notices it except for you. But I understand that they suck and want to be taken care of. I just want to vouch for what worked for me and i see it worked for others- Blistex Lip Medex. I started using it about a week ago and I've noticed the white bumps are decreasing and the bigger bump is smaller.. I used to see it every time I looked in the mirror, but now it's barely visible. It's true- you do have to use it often- 3-4 times a day. I also found that pure vaseline (petroleum jelly) works a lot to add a lot of moisture to the lips which smooths the lips out. Good luck!
Try these methods:
1) Tretinoin cream
2) Isotretinoin Isotretinoin
3) Trichloroacetic Acid
4)Laser vaporization
5) Cryosurgery Cryosurgery or cryotherapy
6) Surgical diathermy or electrosurgery
7) Folic acid and vitamins A, C, D, E, K, and B complex
hope it helps

Mine are at both corners on my mouth, but I've noticed that they have started to spead to my upper lip and more and more seem to be appearing. I've tried the blister but that doesn't seem to help.
Is there anyway to get rid of them or stop anymore from appearing?
This is really really stressing me out!!

I have been trying the blistex medicated for almost a week now and i have seen no difference, i have applied it at least 5 times a day and also before i got to bed.
If anything, they might have gotten worse. I'll keep it up for 3 weeks tops and if it doesn't get better i'll stop.
I will go to my dermatologist see what he says. Whatever he tells me i'll post it here.

I found this forum and tried the Blistex Medex in the small blue container. IN THREE DAYS THE SPOTS ARE 90% GONE. Try it, it works!!
I just don't understand why this Blistex cure seems to work for most people here. I have been using it for close to 8 months with absolutely NO improvement or change in the spots. ?
imma grab some also. hopefully it will help. i notice using the need helps somewhat
using the needle the "pop" them works somewhat. the weird thing is most of them come back after a week. well this is day 1 of the blistex treatment. ill check back in a week and give my update

Hey Folks
I've had Fordyce spots on my upper lip for close to 7 years now, and since they originally appeared they have slowing gotten worse, but centralized to an area on my top lip and the border of the inner lip.
So here's my thoughts: Yes, they suck. No, not many people can notice them. The amount of stress and worry you are all causing yourself by thinking about these blemishes is ridiculous.
Whenever I start to get down on myself because of these, I immediatley count my blessings for BEING ALIVE and having a LIFE. These things are good lessons in life, teaching us to realize how privelaged we really are to be able to enjoy things which millions of others do not.
That being said, I've tried a few cover-ups: I grow my moustache slightly over the top lip and that descreases their appearance, I have used lipliner to cover up on days when the lip colour is sensitive to the spots, and finally I've started with this blistex thing--although i have a sneaking suspicion that many of the posts affirming Blistex as a cure are FAKES!! People get hired by medical companies to promote products on these kinds of sites, and it seems like some of the posts here may be insincere. Who knows. The Blistex does smooth the lips and creates a bit of sheen which can hide them, but removing them completely I think is dependent on many variables--mostly skin type, diet, exposure to sun, and your own personal health.
My advice to everyone who feels 'depressed' or lacks in self esteem from these bumps is this: Realize that you are wasting your precious life complaining about an insignificant blemish and start acting like no one can see them. Or, just keep complaining and planting horrible seeds of low seld esteem in your mind and watch what happens. Love yourselves, even your projected unfavourable attributes, and have compassion for others with REAL disfigurements, you know the kind that draw stares from EVERYONE. This stuff is here to teach us all a lesson that we are far too concerned with appearences and not nearly concerned with embracing our bodies in all their forms.

I have a large patch of Fordyce on my lower lip right in the middle, about 1/2 inch long and tall. My lips are darker pink and this patch is very white. They are very noticeable and look like a large scar.
Blistex has done nothing for me.
