hi ted..i've done some research on jojoba oil..and what you say does make sense..so i bought a 4ounce oil..im to do what you say...hope this works... :-P :-P i well post more as days go by..thanks again ted..hope this works....
I haave self diagnosed myself with the fordyce spots on my lips. I have nnot went to a doctor, just basically looked at pictures and read stories and it appears I have the same things. I used to have a different skin problem on my scalp and decided to try the thing that helped me on this problem too. It worked after about a week the spots started drying out then peeled off. The product I used was call skin tight. the spots came back 2 months later and I'm goin to try again. Good luck
2nd day of using jojoba oil..i don't see any results or changes 8-|
3rd day using jojoba oil..been putting more then 3 times daily..more like 6 times a day..today when i woke up..i used st. ives apricot scrub invigorating and scrubed it for about 3 minutes..i didn't see any diffrence so far..hope this isn't like blistex..a wild goose chase.. :'( i well keep you posted...
Jojoba Oil isn't going to halt the overproduction of sebum until about 2 weeks after constant usage.. acne sufferers generally don't report an improvement until about 2-3 weeks after starting with it, so it takes time.. I didn't notice much of an improvement until day 10, now I'm on day 13 and my lips are starting to dry up and peel which means the jojoba oil is beginning to take control of the oil glands. So now I've realized that exfoliating is not necessary for the first couple weeks, not until sebum production is completely regulated and the spots are pushed even closer to the surface. So revising the treatment plan, jojoba oil should be applied constantly for 2 weeks, then you should exfoliate. Even use toothpaste if you have to, it'll dry the hell out of your lips and cause them to shrivel up and peel, just don't use it too often.
I would suggest using jojoba oil for about a month, and if you don't notice any improvement whatsoever (and by that I mean, no spots have disappeared at all) then scrap it and try something stronger like tretinoin cream. It's like acne, it's a battlefield; it takes a ton of work and dedication to fight it, but it's worth it if you get the desired result. Good luck to all.
i hv the same problem, my dr. gave me some creams to try, but did not work, and he suggested laser, but i m not sure if this works or not, or maybe go back in few months.
pls kindly and graceful, and honestly keep us update if the jojoba oil WORKS, i really want to try it and try to look for it online.
thanks//kim

=== Update ===
now on day 15, and a layer of skin on my upper lip (which is where all of my spots are) has just peeled off, taking a few of the spots away... the spots appear almost at the very edge of my upper lip now, instead of deeper inside.. so I'm going to keep it up and hopefully more peeling will occur, it looks like atleast 1 or 2 layers of skin need to be peeled for the rest to come off.. so the good news is it's definitely helping, the bad news is that it takes time.. the good news obviously outweighs the bad though

I know Trader Joe's sells Jojoba Oil in the States, and if you're in Canada, you can get it at Superstore in the organic section.
Or you could always get it online at well.ca, look for "Desert Essence Jojoba Oil".. they ship to anywhere in North America.. and if you're in UK or Australia there are online pharmacies that sell it as well.

wow..tedmosby83 sounds like the spokesman for jojoba oil..lol..anyways..this is my 6 day using the oil..no results..still the same. >:(
been using it for like a week now and it certainly helps better than anything ive used before, im not sure if itll completely get rid of them but at least they look better and smaller than before.. well see how it goes i guess, but it sure as hell beats blistex or trying anything dangerous to your lips.. i know u need to get your lips to peel to remove the spots, and jojoba oil might help with that in the long run, im just trying to figure out a quicker way to get my lips to peel.. if i could do that, the spots would be gone., becuase like ted said the spots get pushed closer to the surface so that only a couple layers need to come off.. i wonder how i could do this without overdrying my lips
its now my 9th day using joboba oil..i've been using it religiously everyday..from putting it to my lips 6 times to 15 times daily..looks like the spots are starting to be more noticeable..i don't what you mean by the spots shrinking..lip looks a lot worst...im hoping the spots well come closer to the top layer so in can exfoliate with st ives scrub...i really hope this works...
Ive been using jojoba oil for about 1 week now. so far no difference. im using the desert essence that ted recommended. imma give it 2 more weeks and if it doesnt work im going to try the CUskin treatment. ill keep you guys posted
