I have it sometimes when I sneeze, not always. I also had my tonsils removed as a kid so that can't be it.

I had these stinky sneezes too. but mine was different, because i've never had any tonsil issues. the weird thing is that when i sneeze, it smells kind of like the smells mentioned above, like raking leaves, and bad cheese, but it also smells like armpit hair (without deodorant) mixed with cabbage, mixed with grout. I feel like maybe there is a bacteria, because my sneezes have projectiles too, like mentioned above. like when i cut the projectile (not quite as big as a pea), it smells almost like burned hair mixed with a hamster cage odor, and maybe a pine tree. Probably most like a pine tree though. i've asked my doctor about it, and he says that i am making it up, but other people can smell it too. to prove it to him, i sneezed on the doctor, but of course things never happen the way they are supposed to happen when you go to the doctor (or the mechanic for that matter!). he was quite upset, as you could imagine. but i told him to smell my nose right after i sneezed on him, and he did, but he didn't smell it then. of course that was uncomfortable with him all up in my personal space, and then he thinks i'm making it up anyways. i think he thinks i might be gay, because i had him get really close to my face. i don't think i'm gay though, i just think my sneezes smell weird, like an old Volvo, or maybe musty old hat that has been in a box for many years.
please let me know why my sneezes smell.

the cause why sneezes smell is because of your spit that you spray out of your mouth when u sneeze. but sneezes don't have a foul smell, it has a really pleasant smell and i would want people to smell my sneezes. :-D

I love smell of sneezes

I love smell of sneezes, all the spray of saliva and the smell makes the spray a lot nicer, they should make it into a perfume

When I sneeze really hard it smells to me like foot odor. I say I sneezed so hard I could smell my feet! I am otherwise healthy as I can be, as far as I know.

Both my boyfriend and I noticed that sometimes after we sneeze it smell like pee. I also have tonsil stones which is really disgusting but also very common. I wonder having tonsil stones has anything to do with the smell of my sneezing.

I get that too, i never noticed it until recently about 2years ago or somethin, its so gross but what it is actually is our breath. when we sneeze our saliva is shot out in  a mist and what we r smelling is the air from our mouths.

I've had stinky sneezes for a while now and i finally found the cure for it!!!  What cause it is an infection in our nasal passage that connects the nasal passage to the throat.  So what is the cure you ask? Its jala neti, a ancient yoga technique to cleanse the nasal passage.  There are two different stages of cleansing, the frontal nasal cleanse and the back nasal cleanse which cleans the passage going to the throat.  Ever since i've started doing this the stinky sneeze has not returned EVER!!!!  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***

I have the same condition like most of the previous posts... mine started after a pulmonologist prescribed a  certain medicine, it's a nasal spray called something like budesodine... budecort or something like that.  Anyway, after the period of medication my sneeze started to smell bad... I have good oral hygiene, no rotten teeth but I have tooth fillings. I floss and use mouthwash regularly etc. I even have breath mints all the time.  But when I get to sneeze, something really foul smelling comes out.  It's like coming from inside my body... within my lungs... the smell is just horrible.  Do you have any solution for this? Or should I start to drink mouthwash since that it seems like it coming from inside my body? Need help, I don't want to smell awful.

For most of my life I have had a musky (not musty) smell on the inside of my right wrist after sneezing. It stopped for over fifteen years and returned today after a sneeze. It was stronger then ever as though making up for lost time. I find the smell interesting, not unpleasant and reminds me of musk perfume. i have always wondered whether I produced the odor first and that made me sneeze or the sneeze produced the odor. It seems simultaneous. It doesn't coincide with sinus problems.

Dear fellow sufferers,

I am late in this forum; but found out the cause for the foul smell. I did an experiment - I sneezed with my mouth covered with a napkin and my sneeze didn't smell bad. It smells bad only when we sneeze with our mouth open. Later, once I had severe cold/sinusitis and sore throat - doc prescribed ciprofloxacin (Cifran from Ranbaxy to be precise).

My sneeze didn't smell bad for a while, couple of months rather. However, it began smelling bad again and unfortunately Cifran is not helping either.

I know that couple of others confirmed it as oral bad breath but my breath doesn't smell bad - I have a very good oral hygiene, no tooth decays, flossed regularly, and I clean my tongue everyday.

Request you all to try this experiment and confirm if it's oral or nasal smell.

Thank you!

Exactly Sanagasetty. I too have noticed the same behavior. When I cover my sneeze with a handkerchief there is no foul smell.

Here's the low down. Your not crazy, your normal with a twist. Tetracycline may have a key role to play here. You see it's an antibiotic that is given for bacterial infections including strep and bronchitis. It’s used more often in people with allergies to penicillin. Most people that have taken this often (usually when your younger) have weakened your throat against micro bacteria, Candida albicans mostly. Though it’s rare, this fungus can cause bad physical ailments. Deep in the throat it’s not as likely, but it’s something to get taken care of.

 <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

A high dose of LEVAQUIN is a popular to kill this fungus within only a week. If this doesn’t work other drugs can be given that may take much longer to destroy this fungus. It may also return in which lesser antibiotics can rid you of it before it sets in again.

The smell differs for everyone depending on your diet. It’s a fungus after all and absorbs what you ingest, but regardless, it is always foul smelling.  Get it checked out. The test is usually just a swab like a strep throat test, because breathing will bring bits of the less foul smelling fungus to the mouth.

Tonsillitis and the foul smelling balls that are trapped in the pitts of the people with this problem does not affect it in any way shape or form. Having your tonsils and adenoids removed will not end to foul smell of the occasional sneeze.

Hope that helps everyone on here.
