I also have had lots of headaches and I'm adopted and just a while back ago, I just found out that I need to watch my GB and I need to figure out what I should do, cuz I'm 17 and I am known to be a hypochondriac and what other symptons should I watch out for?

Hi!

I had all the same symptoms, and was diagnosed with Gallbladder disease yesterday. I have had several tests by neurologists, endos, etc. since Oct 2008. Almost one year later, my back started hurting. My doctor told me i pulled a muscle, but the pain never went away. The next day, I went to a chiropracter (still had pain) and after all this time, it took a Chiro to tell me it was not in my head, or me. He reccommended I get my "guts checked". Well, next day I had another attach (felt like i was getting snapped in half at my rib cage). Ended up in the ER, and diagnosed with Gallbladder disease! I am getting it out soon and will post the findings..

Symptoms (I am type A+ personality)

Extreme Fatigue
Excessive Bloating
30 pounds gained over 4 months
Hair thinning
acne
headaches
Thyroid, etc, all fine!

Wow so glad to have read this site. I am having most of the symptoms. Extreme fatigue, weight gain, pulled muscle feeling in my back, pain in right upper quadrant. I have had the test and I am full of stones. Surgery is Wednesday. I went to the doctor, not because of the pain, but because of the fatigue and weight gain. Also, my thyroid is fine. I did not have a lot of nausea or vomiting. I can eat. It is when I don't eat that the pain is worse. I am just so glad to have the hope that once I get this thing out the fatigue will go away. I sleep 8-10 hours a night and could nap 2 more hours a day if possible. I have lived a life on only 6-7 hours of sleep during the week with 8 hours on the weekend. One more day than hopefully a new life will emerge.

Hello all! I just thought that everyone on this thread should also be alerted to something that can often have the symptoms of gallbladder disease. It's called the Sphincter of Oddi Dsyfunction and I know of someone who had her gallbladder removed and was still having big problems. Please take a look around the web and talk to your doctors about it, it's the kind of thing that so many of us learn to just 'live with' until a smart doctor takes us seriously.
good luck to all

I have been sick for two years. I have experienced hair loss, fatigue, muscle aches ,pains, and headaches. Every blood test came back perfect including thyroid and lypus. I have constant burning no matter what I eat or drink. Medication did not help. After several gallbladder attacks I changed doctors. I am going to have surgery to remove my gallblbladder. Will this stop the burning?

If anyone has had surgery please let me know if the hairloss stopped as well as the symptoms. Did it grow back?

The connection with hair loss and thyroid is a well known one, also, with joint pain and other things controlled by hormones. The missing link is that while Dr.'r run thyroid tests, they don't test you for Hashimotos! It is a thyroid disease where it is autoimmune linked. Your tsh levels will read normally, but your body can NOT recognize or use the thyroid hormone. Also DO NOT let them put you on synthroid. It only contains one of the two hormones needed, and not every one can convert the one to make the other. Use Armour thyroid....made from pig thyroid. It is THE BEST. I have a long history of this. Join Mary Shomon's thyroid guide too. Anyway, there is the connection with the hair loss, weight gain and thyroid disease and gallbladder disease. I gained over 60 lbs and went undiagnosed for 7 years. It ruined my life. I am now down to a normal weight. I was a former beauty queen and took care of my health...so I couldn't figure out why I couldn't lose weight and was looking so bad. It ruined my hair and skin. I look great now. You can too Best of luck, and find a doctor who will listen to you. They will try to convince you to use synthroid, once again....don't! Get the Hashi's test too! The number should be zero for antibodies....just so you know! That is what they are testing you for, to see if you have the antibodies to your thyroid! If so, your body destroys it instead of uses it. That is why your blood numbers can be right, but you still are suffering.

I, too, had serious right sided headaches, neck pain, ear aches, fatigue, hair loss, right shoulder pain and nausea before having a gallbladder attack. Crazy that all of you had the same symptoms. I had been to my family doctor, 3 ENT"s, eye doctor, dentist, and a neurologist. Blood work, CT scans and MRI's all came back fine. For a year I suffered and was beginning to think that everyone thought that I was crazy. Then in January I went to the ER and thought that I was having a heart attack. They did all of the above: blood tests, EKG, ultrasound of all my organs and there was nothing found.. sent me home with some pain meds. Then the ER doctor said if you don;'t get feel better go see your family doctor again. I went to a different doctor and explained all of my symptoms. She requested the dye test to check my gall bladder function. The results of the test were good. No issues. But she believed me enough to schedule me with the Gall bladder surgeon. He believed my symptoms and stated that he would remove the gall bladder to see if that helped. My headaches were gone the day of surgery!!! And the hair loss is minimal now! I hope that you all found relief too!! Good luck.

Hey everyone,

Allow me to preface this by saying I am FINALLY getting an ultrasound Monday, as I believe I experienced my second SEVERE gallbladder attack in two years on Friday.

I am a 26 year old female, and I have been suffering from stomach issues as well as headaches for some time now. I have also dealt with hairloss at the temporal/front areas of my head, and it seems to get far worse when I have what I believe is a gallbladder attack.

I had been to the doctor numerous times in high school for bad headaches. My stomach issues (uncomfortable stomach, constantly feeling bloated, constant gas, etc) started to really flare up about 5 years ago. I, too was told ultimately that they thought I had GERD, and was recommended tagumet. It didn't make sense to me, though...As many times, when my stomach would really hurt, my back would really hurt, and I would almost always have chest pains when feeling ill. I also seem to have a constant problem after eating. I always feel like I've over eaten, and my stomach will be extremelt bloated after even a small snack.

Two years ago, I got violently ill. It came on very suddenly, I got flushed, sweaty, and almost delirious feeling, and I puked so many times that I couldn't move for three days after because my back and stomach muscles hurt so badly. I went to the ER where they gave me Compazine, which worsened my nausea as opposed to righting it, and they told me I had a virus. (Mind you, I had eaten McDonald's before this happened...I rarely eat fast food.) They told me to go home and ride it out.

This Friday, I went out to dinner with my fiance. We both had the same exact dinner, and we shared an appetizer. The only thing different that I had was an alcoholic beverage (1). Within an hour, same exact symptoms as prior 'attack.' Came on very suddenly, I felt extremely hot and sweaty, stomach felt absolutely horrendous, I had awful chest pains, started to feel lightheaded and 'not all there', and before we could get home, I started puking. I puked all night in to the next day, and had severe headache and back pains the weekend in to Monday morning. Doctor told me I had staph food poisoning.

I would have just believed him except this time, I am STILL uncomfortable. I can't eat without feeling like I either have indigestion, or some sort of nausea after. I have a constant dull, aching headache, as well. I went back yesterday after reading about gallbladder disease and told him I wanted to be checked for it.

A couple questions:

Does anyone ever experience lower left quadrant pain after an attack? I do.

As far as weight loss/gain...I had gained 18 lbs at one point, but once I worked it off, it stayed off. So I don't really know if I should contribute that to this ailment. Otherwise I have never really had a weight issue.

Also, as far as what I have mentioned above with my 'attack symptoms', does this line up for anyone else? Has anyone else experienced an attack like that, that has been gallbladder related?

Lastly, upon removal or righting of gallbladder problem, has anyone had a weight GAIN issue?

Anyone that has experienced hairloss with their gallbladder disease, does it ever get better after the situation has been fixed?

++Oh, and another tidbit: My hairloss seemed to have picked up last year, I went to a specialist and they told me they thought I had Androgenic Alopecia. I was recommended viviscal and have been taking it twice a day, and I will say it does help with at least making the hair feel and look healthier, but from my experience so far, does not aid in stopping hairloss like it claims. Since I am in my childbearing years, I am too afraid to try any chemical i.e. minoxidil, which was also recommended to me. Now I am thinking maybe it is good I didn't start using any of that, as the hairloss could be stemming from a gallbladder issue.

Any info, advice, or whatever, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, I just read your post from a year ago and I wanted to write you and ask you a couple of questions if you don't mind. I am schedule for gallbladder surgery soon but all of the doctors and most of the blogs the Internet don't list headaches as gallbladder disease symptoms. I also have other symptoms like body aches, fatigue, ankle swelling, heartburn etc.

Do you still get headaches after surgery? Did you have any other symptoms? I would really appreciate a response as I have second thoughts about the surgery. Thank you.

I dont know about hair loss but i have just started to have headaches. I knwo that i have gallstones and have had the HIDA test but that showed my gallbladder is functioning properly and not diseased. I keep getting chest pain and when I breathe it hurts so bad, so they have done ct scans of my chest, EKG, echocardiograms which show nothing, yet I feel really bad. I can eat (too much) and i feel the same way. I was scheduled to have my gallbladder taken out but my doctor cancelled it due to excess fluid build up and chest pain. Now i am sitting here suffering from all the pain and the hard time breathing. I dont burp alot which amazes me. The lady who did my echo said she believes all my pain is coming from my gallbladder but what can I do if my dr cancels it on me? I continue to suffer and worry if I am going to quit breathing or if my stones will lodge someplace before i can get it removed. I am so glad others share my pain and worry.

Hi everyone,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I’m so happy to have come across this board!

I have had what I now know as gallbladder attacks for a couple years now. I would only get them every 2-3 months, but they are horrible each time.  Finally, I had enough with the last one in March 2012, so I went to a gastro doc for some help. They ran blood work, did an upper GI, ultrasound of my abdomen, and a HIDA with CCK scan.  The HIDA is what finally led them to my gallbladder. My gallbladder has an ejection rate of 9% and this is the only test that came back with bad results. I do not have stones either, just low functioning gallbladder.

I too have bad headaches (unexplained by any doctors I have seen about them) and weight gain (I feel like I can put on weight SO easily). I’m wondering now by reading other’s postings if both of these are contributed to the gallbladder not working at the rate it should be?  I definitely have some weight to loose so I’m crossing my fingers this helps.

Anyone have success stories to share? I only seem to find people who had gallstones as well, not just low functioning.

Has anyone ever experienced headaches, chronic constipation and unexplained weight loss as symptoms? I also had the gas, bloating, random stomach pains. I had almost every orifice examined and finally a HIDA scan showed a poor functioning gall bladder ad was dx'd with bilianary dyskinesia. Had surgery a week ago and the changes are remarkable! I'm just mystified by the extreme weight loss and also mouth pain and swelling. Anyone else with similar symptoms? Thanks
