Stay strong and get it resolved - I know it's frustrating, but you know what your body is telling you.
I see that this is an old topic, but thought I would share our story....For a year and a half my husband suffered from severe headaches..that never ever went away...we went to probally 25 different types of Doctors..and 15- 20 different tests including 4 spinal taps, scans, etc. It was a living nightmare, we almost went bankrupt and Divorced trying to find out the cause of his headache...He was given many different mis diagnosis's and unneeded dangerous medications that almost killed him...in the end they accused him of selling the drugs they were prescribing him and diagonised him with depression...Then one day a nurse just casually mentioned that maybe it is his Gall Bladder...It was as if a light bulb came on...with in a couple of days he had a HIDA scan, it showed advanced Gall Bladder Disease and the infection was spreading...He had his Gall Bladder removed and a miracle happened after a year and a half of suffering, he was cured!!!...So YES Gall Bladder Disease does cause severe Headaches and the Doctors will not acknowledge this..Hope this helps someone !
okay, I am amazed at having found this thread...... my docs (plural, i keep searching for someone who will take me seriously) have tested for just about everything they can see in bloodwork and always comes back fine..... i have been saying i believe this is a thyroid problem....
for several years now i have been gaining weight (70 lbs in 4 years) my hair is thinning, my skin is dry, itchy, i have had acid reflux forever, and antacids typically dont work, headaches, recently with vision problems ( migraine auras?) edema in hands face, and lower legs (dimples along my shins) but not in feet or ankles....
for over 2 months ive had back pain on right or left side, up into my shoulders and neck... thought this was a chiropractic problem.... but then last sunday i went to ER for severe upper abdominal pain on left side..... turns out its an ulcer.... benign, and no H pylori infection.... so, a week later I have equally severe pain on RIGHT side..... they are looking into gallbladder problems now... havent tested anything yet.... but I also am having all-over muscle aches, flu-like pains..... just freaking miserable!!!! occasional nausea (triggers hot flash and sweating, but i dont vomit) and extreme fatigue.... could sleep all day and then all night, but for pain waking me often. oh, and a 99.0-100.3 fever off and on for over 8 months...
so, my question is.... well, WTF??!!
Extreme fatigue, nausea, heacaches, RUQ pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and FINALLY someone else mentions the dag-blasted mucus in my throat. I am SOOOO tired of hearing people joke about "Can't get your engine started??" when I find myself constantly clearing my throat trying to get rid of the mucus.
I have an appt with a surgeon in 19 days. NINETEEN LONG DAYS!! UGH!! Ef from the HIDA is 27%. My GI said it "wasn't significant" and my family Dr said "Uhh... yes it is." So he's sending me to the surgeon, not my GI.
I am going to start praying bigtime that this resolves the years of HORRIBLE headaches and dangerous medicines that I've been on for the last 4 years. It would be so nice to live again.
I went to the Dr last week because i had this aweful stomach pain couldnt stand, sit, walk or anything and turned white as a ghost, he immediately mentioned gallbladder, sent me for a hida scan and today found out i need it out. A normally functioning gallbladder is at 35% and mine is at a 9% (dont know what it means but i figure its not good). I have been suffering migraines all my life but for a few weeks i have been having these sharp constant stabbing pains in my head behind my ear and sometimes just an all over headache (like right now). I have also been very tired and have been breaking out on my face and having lower back pain. I am 41 years old and only get one pimple a month (at that time) and this is REDICULOUS I feel like a teenager with the pimples. I saw someone else on here post about that and figured i would as well maybe it will help someone because I dont think dr's know every symptom.
I have these same problems with the headaches and stomach problems. Did you find out what was causing these symptoms?
Hello,
i have the same prob! I hurt on my right side and it goes around my back in the same spot it also feels hard. I get very sick to my stomach, have head aches, blotting, heartburn, really bad acid that comes up, hair loss, feel weak all the time and I also have breakouts on my face I'm 29 I suffer from constipation then I will get very bad diarrhea. I shave been going trough this for years and each attack get worse. I have found a dr that I'm suppose to go see and hopefully have some tests ran and get this thing out! Just wondering do these symptoms go away after you have your gb removed?
p.s. it will also wake me up in the middle of the night! And the spot is hurts to even be touched. Any comments with info will
Get a new doctor. If he got that frustrated by not being able to diagnose you, then he needs a new career path. Find a doctor willing to LISTEN.
The thing is that gallbladder flush doesn't do anything to solve the low funcitoning gallbladder problem. Some people don't have stones, what they have is a low funcioning gallbladder and acupunture and flush won't solve that.
Pain in my upper right ab, tender rib feeling, tight right shoulder blade/neck, burping, mucus in throat / golfball feeling, headaches in the back of my head.......... all the same symptoms everyone else seems to be having.
I have done way too many tests... including a HIDA scan that showed my Gallbladder is not working properly but no stones. After 6 months, I am finally going to have the surgery.
Anyone know any reasons not to have the surgery or the side effects?
A very small percentage of people have side effects, such as frequent and long term diarrhea, difficulty digesting fat and certain types of foods. Some people also show symptoms of IBS and mention abdominal pains, even long after surgery. A lot of these people have other problems that were not related to the gallbladder, but haven't been identified yet, so they blame it on the surgery. The most common situation is food intolerances and celiac disease (that not always is correctly diagnosed by doctor). Most food intolerances cannot be diagnosed by exams, so most people just live with them without knowing they have it. So this is a warning for you when you read stuff online. Most of the people complaining about having their gallbladders removed are people that are suffering from other problems, but don't know it.
Most people have no side effects on the long term. If you ever find it difficult to digest fats, a simple trick is to take enzime pills 15 minutes before eating fats and taking bile salts to help digest them. But most people don't need even that... it's like they brand new again and they can eat anything they want.
Removing a low functining gallbladder actually improves your life a lot, as a gallbladder that doesn't work well doesn't digest fat properly and a result, the vitamins that are fat soluble (A,D,E and K) don't get absorbed well and you have problems with defficiencies of these vitamins (in different degrees). The most notable thing is weak and brittle hair (with occasional hair loss), skin problems and weak nails, as our hair, skin and nails need a lot of vitamin A, D and E to be healthy. Obviously there's other bodily funcions that use these vitamins too and are improved with the removal of the gallbladder, but I mentioned hair, skin and nails because it's very easy to know when something is not right.
It's also worth mentioning that by having a gallbladder that doesn't funcion well, you also don't absorve the "good fats" like omega's and as a result not only you hair, skin and nails suffer, but also your brain function. Your memory is bad, you can't focus, become forgetfull and won't learn as fast.
