This is great info. I am sure I am being affected by the meds I take for neuropathy pain that is, in itself, debilitating. I'm wondering, however, how much more so does this relate to those of us without gallbladders? I live with a horrific case of bile reflux, which is not helped by traditional GERD meds. Chronic nausea, severe pain, swallowing difficulties and major stomach burning are symptoms I live with daily. At this point in my life, no Dr has mentioned the correlation of opiates to hepatic and biliary malfunctioning. Twice this year, I went to the ER and was admitted for having a partial bowel obstruction. Fortunately, both were relieved with stomach rest, IV fluids and, of course, pain meds, though I don't believe I could have endured those episodes without pain meds. Any thoughts on how opiates affect those of us without a gallbladder?

I have a question. I have been on Norco 2-3 times a day for chronic neck pain from an injury for several years. Occasionally I will get nausea with a right sided fullness or pressure. Sometimes but not often I'll have belching or heartburn but not often. My Hyda scan almost two years ago was good or hyper depending on who you talk to. Ejection fraction rate was 90%. At this time I have had an ultrasound that showed mildy dilated CBD, liver, pancreas, and kidneys were fine. Labs including liver function labs all normal.
My CT scan showed a prominent mildy dilated CBD of 9 mm on coronal images. It showed right ovarian cyst (which I have OFTEN), left small kidney cyst, and probable small cyst in liver 7mm right lobe.
Other than all of this I am quite healthy. I did go through fertility treatment 4 years ago to have my 4th child. All this being said my question is....since they did not see any stones or masses etc on US or CT what do you feel could be the reason of the dilated CBD? Overall I am well, just occasionally bouts of nausea and seldomly the right sided pressure. (That has happened twice in two years).

Quick question ..have you heard of abdomen swelling severely after meals with Gallblader disfunction but returning to normal state after 8 hours of lying on left side?? My hida scan is a 29, no stones present suffered for three year.. During the eight hour period of lying only on left side I get up to urinate 4 times.. In morning my stomach is normal no pain no swelling. I have slept on left side for three year. I was also diagonsed with celliac and have followed my diet strictly for a year.ty

Hi, i know your post has been over a year now. I am just curious how you doing now? are you still having attacks? Like yours i was diagnosed gallstones. However, i don’t really know if the attacks i experienced was really gallstones or acid reflux or something else besides gallstones. Would love to get a reply from you.

Thanks

I haf my gallbladder removed 18 years ago and have had a few surgeries since. I was given pain meds that range from tylenol3 to oxycodone to diladidd, naproxen and morphine. Without fail i have a full-on extremely painful gallbladder attack and end up in emergency for hours trying to get the gallbladder-less gallbladder pain under control.
Do u know why this happens? What can b done at emerg to stop the pain and what other pain killer recommendations u would have for the next time they are required?
Thanks :)

Hello! Finding this post is a beacon of help to me. I am having gallbladder symptoms (sphincter of Oddi is my hunch…but undiagnosed)….with scans that aren’t helping figure out the pain.

I used to take opiates intermittently (Percocet 5/335) about 100 of them in a 2 week time span (2,000mg per day) in 3 doses each day. I then switched to Kratom, and have gone back & forth but ended up staying with Kratom (7-15g daily but used to take 21g a day).

I am now 40 (been using those since about 2018, so for 5-6 years).

I have gallbladder pain symptoms but my ultrasound showed no stones or blockages, just mildly enlarged gallbladder and pancreas ducts with slight elevation in pancreas and liver enzymes.

I’ve been weaning off Kratom and am now only at 6g per day, taken in two 3g increments in the morning & evening.

I’m terrified I’ve caused permanent damage and my doctor is of no help.

Can this ever return to normal? Please help ease my fear, or confirm it, whichever, lol.

Thank you so so much!!
