I had my gallbladder removed in December, 2006. The day before the surgery I had ERCP because a scan seemed to show a stone in the bile duct. However, the ERCP showed only an irritated place where one might have been but had moved. Then I had surgery. A few months later, I began to have periodic episodes of severe pain - similar to the pain I had before surgery. Last nights attack was the worst and landed me in the ER where an x-ray showed nothing. These attacks are very painful, but only last about 15 minutes. My doctor has scheduled an MRCP for week after next. If this test does not show a stone - what next? Is it possible to have a "traveling stone" which just stays with you like a ticking time bomb and you never know when it will go off?
