My anesthesiologist warned me that my shoulder would hurt. He said that the signals from the nerves belonging to the diaphragm and the shoulder can get crossed in the brain (I think he said they are close together). The diaphragm really hates the gass that blows up your stomach cavity during the surgery so sends pain signals. The brain interprets them as shoulder pain.

If you ever have pain in your chest you should always go to the hospital.

I had this problem the first few nights until I realized it was the pain medication. It slows down the respiratory system and can cause sleep apnea. Trying taking your last dose of the day a few hours before you go to sleep.

Had the same thing happen to me. All I can say is 1) ERs suck, always bring someone with you 2) thank god for narcotics 3) ask to stay overnight after surgery, same day release is a bad idea 4) gallbladder surgery is major, takes about 2 weeks to feel normal again despite what doctors tell you

3 days post op from single site robotic gallbladder removal. Everyone has told me its a very easy surgery and should be able to do most of your daily activities in a week or two but i have been having severe pain in my right rib cage when I breathe deep or even bend wrong. The pain doesnt seem to be getting better. Its hard to even walk because i feel if i stand up straight I feel a pulling feeling inside.

I'm 7 days post op and that's exactly how I've been feeling. Some days are better than others as far as pain goes. I was back at work 4 days post op but I've been making sure to not do anything strenuous. A friend of mine said even if you're feeling great, you still need to take it easy for at least a month. She didn't and ended up back in the hospital. I've had 6 surgeries with varying recovery times, the longest being 6 months. It can be very frustrating but it's best to follow your doctors orders to prevent any complications. You can't rush the speed at which your body heals. It'll take time. However, if this is something that you feel isn't right then I do suggest bringing up to your surgeon at your post op checkup or sooner. They can can answer all your questions and hopefully ease your mind a bit

Tomorrow will make 5 weeks since my surgery.
To sneeze is like somebody sticking a knife along the entire top rib cage..
I’m wondering if this will ever go away!
