I was born with a single right kidney. Also have a narrowing of my Urethra, and have passed stones. I have read all the information about living with one kidney. My question is, I have almost constant recurrent UTI's. What is my prognosis, and what further treatment to I need to seek on this. I hate to keep taking Macrodantin, and going back and forth if there are other things I need to be doing? Any advice would be welcome.
Hi Sissy,
Your prognosis should be very good. You do need to do a few things but really nothing different than anyone else.
1. Watch your blood pressure. High blood pressure can easily lead to kidney damage.
2. If you suspect a UTI, see your doctor and treat it accordingly. Don't let them progress.
Macrodantin is an antibiotic to help your UTI. Take as directed. Always complete the entire course of antibiotics unless told otherwise by your doctor.
Hope it helps.
