Hi Emily
You haven't given much information about yourself, but you will not be pregnant yet from your sexual activities on 6th March. That takes several days. But anytime you have sex, there is the potential to get pregnant.
You can only get pregnant from sperm entering your vagina at a fertile time. If your period were due 9th, then you are not likely to have been fertile on 6th. It could be that your period is just later than expected. But it could also be that you ovulated late, and either your period is not due for a few days, or you actually ovulated on 6th!
- What was the date your last period started?
- How long is your cycle (typically 28 days)?
- Is your cycle regular?
- What other dates since your last period started have you had sex?
- What were the circumstances of your sexual encounters on 6th? Why were they unprotected?
If you can answer these questions, I might be able to give further help.
So here's my situation. My previous record of first dates of my period were December 17, 2014, January 10, 2015 and then the last one was Feb 9, 2015. Also on January 3, I used morning after pill cuz of broken condom. So from then I assume that my cycle would not be regular and disturb. and I had unprotected sex last March 9 (UTC/GMT+8), Is it possible (percent of chances) that I'm on my fertile window in that time? and also when should I expect my period? I am just delayed or on my way in getting preggy? Should I opt for morning after pill now or just wait for my period to show up? It's March 11 (UTC/GMT+8) here now (If ever we have different time zones).
Thank you in advance.
Hi Guest
Anytime you have sex there is the potential for pregnancy. With only 3 period dates, and the middle one of them after the EC, it is difficult to detect a pattern. But I suspect your cycle is usually about 28-30 days. That being so, 3rd Jan was probably not a fertile day.
The fact that you took EC means that your subsequent periods could be earlier or later than would normally be expected. However, it seems to me that the likelihood is that you were not fertile 9th March, and you will start your period within the next day or so. But you only have a limited time to take the EC, and the sooner after sex that it is taken, the better chance there is of it being effective.
EllaOne is an example of an EC pill that must be taken within 5 days (120 hours) of having sex to be effective (although it is more effective the sooner it is taken). Some EC pills must be taken within 3 days (72 hours).
I hope this helps
Shepherd999, I have a question.
Sorry. I had sex last march 12 and today march 17. My period last month started at february 17th or 18. My boyfriend and I used the pull out method. Do I have the chance of getting pregnant? Hope not. Thank you.
Hi mtz
If your last period were on 5 Feb, then with a 30day cycle you would likely have been fertile 16-21 Feb. Taking the EC on 2 March would probably have been too late to be effective, but would have probably altered your cycle, and your periods could be unpredictable for a few cycles. However, it is possible you may be pregnant. A test might be appropriate, but as you are still having sex, a negative result would not necessarily mean you are not (or will not become) pregnant.
Hi guest999
It seems that you would not have been fertile on 12th & 17th if you have regular cycles of about 30 days (periods 30 days apart). But that would mean your period is due any day now. How long is your cycle? When do you expect your period to start? The pull-out method is unreliable, and any time you have sex there is the possibility of pregnancy following.
Sorry for the delay in replying.
It is possible that you could be pregnant, but it does seem unlikely. The times you had sex (Jan 10; Feb 6) appear to have been fertile times (are you trying to get pregnant?), but you had a period following them. The indications would be that you would not have been pregnant then if the periods were normal, but it is not an absolute guarantee.
You say your cycle is on average 26-27 days, but you don't give a range (shortest & longest). 30th Dec to 24 Jan is 25 days (one day shorter than average), and today is day 28 (one day longer than average), so would not give cause for thought that you have yet missed it. Besides, if it were in fact due about now, then you are not likely to have been fertile Mar 14. To have been fertile Mar 14, your period would not be due until at least Mar 28.
Anaemia can affect fertility. It can affect the viability of eggs, and also render you liable to miscarry if you do get pregnant. Why does your mother think your anaemia might be worse?
Where are you from?
I hope this helps as a start.
Anaemia is when your body doesn't have enough red blood cells to carry enough oxygen to the rest of your body. 'Iron deficiency anaemia' is so called because iron is needed to create haemoglobin, which helps create healthy blood cells. Without iron, the blood cells can't bring enough oxygen to your body, including your brain. There are also other causes of anaemia. So it is far, far removed from your thought that "it would not be a big deal", and it is very important to treat it. I strongly recommend you take those medications you have been given for iron deficiency anaemia. A good diet is also important.
No matter what causes anaemia, anaemia itself causes a lack of oxygen to the body, which can cause irregular menstruation, and even skipped menstruation. The sort of irregular menstruation that anaemia can cause include (1) a very heavy flow, (2) an absent flow, (3) frequent spotting, or (4) skipped periods. Because of the blood loss from a heavy menstruation, symptoms of anaemia can worsen during your period. Your doctor has probably given you iron supplements as you have iron deficient anaemia.
Your doctor can give you supplements to prevent the symptoms of anaemia. Apart from irregular or heavy menstruation, other symptoms of anaemia include pale skin, fatigue, irregular or fast heartbeat, breathing difficulties, chest pains, dizziness, headaches, and cold hands and feet. Your doctor can prescribe supplements that will help your particular deficiency, but that is no real help if you don't take what is prescribed. Also, you must maintain a good diet.
The withdrawal method is not a reliable method of contraception.
I hope his helps - but please take some remedial action before you body suffers anymore.
