ugh i can so relate to all of you guys i have been with my boyfriend for two years and have been hiding my toes from him that long! i don't know what to do anymore he keeps asking me to see them but i am to embarrassed to let him. i want to wear flip flops and open toes heels in the summer but i just cant. this sh*t is depressing!
hi today is may 31, 2010 and everybody is going to the beach but i really don't like going because of my corns. I would like to know how long it takes to recover from the corn surgery and how long it took till you were able to walk on your feet again also I would like to know the amount of time the procedure took. PLEASE respond to this message as soon as possible (anyone who knows the answer to my question) please and thank you!
Doesn't your insurance pay for the surgery?
I'm having surgery on the fifth toe right foot on July 21th. (baby toe). It is as painful as I heard. My doctor also was to perform surgery on the left foot last two toes at the same time. Can anyone tell me about that. Should I have only one done at a time?
I am having corn removal surgery in 3 days on both feet. I have had corns forever and I am so sick of them. I have tried Pretty toes which is a makeup/cover-up (you can buy it online). It helps, but with the bumps on my toes it is still a problem. In the past I have tried the corn removal pads, but they discolored my toes. I have gone to podiatrists in the past and had them shaved down, but that does not completely remove them. For those who are asking about the cost. I am paying $1000 out of pocket. The rest of the money my Dr. will get from my insurance. She said she was going to send me a bill because she is obligated to do so. I have not received the bill yet so I do not know the full cost. I have seen some information about it costing up to $4000. Someone in one of the posts asked what you tell your employer regarding your surgery. I have been telling people that I am having a bone removed from my foot. I say it pretty quickly and tell them it is not a big deal. I am pretty private so people know not to ask alot of questions. My male family friend laughed at me and said "Oh you are having a bunion removed". I said Yes. He stated that his relative had the same surgery. I guess a bunion is less embarrassing than a foot full of corns. LOL! Technically it is none of their business, unless you are speaking with a nurse/case worker at your company who is processing any leave used for recovery from the surgery. I will let you know how I am after the surgery.
Hello, I know I'm kind of late but i will like to share my experience. I've had my surgery done on the 22nd of this month. I had my 2nd toe shortened (hammertoe) w/ toe nail removed and i also got my 5 the corn removed w/ toe nail removed only on my right foot. The surgery was great I felt no pain for 7 days and i havent taken anything AT ALL!! but now i feel a lil c**p pain in my foot and i think i popped some stitches because i have a jump that is always jumping on me and i'm always walking around. I made an appointment to see my doctor next week because the stuff used to wrap my foot had unraveled lol. I have plans on get the same procedure done on my left foot, I just don't know when yet. but that's it for now.. lol
My daughter and I both had hammertoe and corn removal surgery on eight toes. It was done one foot at a time. We have had no problems since. YES, it was extremely painful for a couple of days, but it was worth it to be able to wear open toes shoes and sandals without embarassment. The worst part to me was the anesthesia the was injected BETWEEN EACH TOE!! I was awake during the outpatient procedure, but my feet were deadened. I have no regrets and would do it again if I needed to.
all of these people that have had this hammertoe/corn surgery and there are still unanswered questions in this post! how much does it cost and how long is the recovery time???? geeze
I do the same, but I use makeup powder. And mines too are pink because I shave them down

I had hammer toe surgery on 21st June where as the DR. removed the joint and left the toe floppy..Still in pain when I try to walk as if there is a knife cutting me but can get around slowly at home..Find it hard to keep balance as a few years before had a big toe fusion on the same foot..i would be interested to know if anyone else has had their joint removed without fusion.

I had the corn surgery about seven years ago and they came back. I dont think that they did a good job with three of my toes but one was completely gone! I was out of work for about 3 1/2 months for one foot and about the same for the other but that was mainly because I had to wear steel toe shoes to work. I am still embarrassed of my toes and will not show them at all. I would love to wear flip flops and cute shoes but I refuse to show them. A lot of people tells me nothing is wrong with my feet however, I want them to be natural looking just like every body else's feet. Its embarrassing!
I went to Dr.Keyes a year ago and he totally transformed my feet. My insurance covered it. He is based out of Chicago. God Bless you and know that there is help. His surgical repair has no downtime. He is the best. My name is Joyce.

you shouldn't have to go into details, tell your employer . just simply state that is foot surgery and it is needed immediately and you'll be back as soon as the doctor clears you to.
