i also have mine that i first noticed 14 yrs ago and i think it`s growing as i age. and i also noticed that i also have others like it in some parts of my head. i often have headache and don`t know if it has something to do the the growth. the one in my forehead started small and now it has become bigger and there`s another growth beside the first one. i had it checked a few yrs ago and my doctor told me it`s benign and they can remove it but it will just leave an ugly mark on my forehead so i decided not to have them removed. but i`m worried now because of the other growth on other part of my head. and i also feel conscious about how i look because they are so visible. please help me/us understand what really is exostosis. and if ever i decide to have it removed, will it cause harm to my brain. i`m so afraid because they`re in my head. help please. thanks.
i have the same problem as a lot of people here.. i used to have 2 on my forehead but they went away, but they one of them came back in the same spot and i developed another on my chin??!? the one on my chin hurts an little bit but the one on my forehead doesn't. they feel exactly the same and i haven't really found any solutions to it. i know i wasn't suppose to do this, but i took a needle and poked it as far back as i could with out too much pain. then thinking it was a zit under the skin, i started the squeeze it. but all that came out was a clear liquid and some blood. at first it got deflated but a few seconds later it just went back to normal size... its really pissing me off because i cannot do anything about it and it's making me very subconscious... please help! there are hardly any answers about this on the internet and this is all i could find. still hardly any answers so please some one help!
I have it too! My doctor said it wasn't a big deal and if I had it removed, it'd just grow back. I hate it. It's becoming more and more apparent. I would love to have it removed or at least know what the hell it is. I've had it for a decade!
I am totally shocked to see how many people have this same problem.
I'm 21 and first noticed this lump/bump on my forehead was I was 16.
Every time I visit a doctor for whatever reason I ask him what's that on my head.
Every doctor gives me a different answer from:
1) A cyst;
2) Bone growth;
3) The result of trauma;
4) I'm not sure.
5) Don't worry its just cosmetic
So 5 years on I have given up on any sort of solution. The only upside is that it's in the middle of my forehead just under my hairline so its symmetric and not that noticable. But I do feel self conscious and when I do get close to people they eventually ask me what's that on my head.

I have the bony forehead growth too.
I wonder if it has to do with human growth hormone?
I was already seeing doctors for a benign pituitary tumor and surprise one morning
I had this knot on my forehead, had the CT scan which only confirmed 'yep, it's bone.'
around the same time I had hormonal bloodwork which showed my HGH higher than normal.
I get the impression it is a benign bony growth, no doctor has linked it to my HGH level, that just a theory of mine.
I will be seeing an endocrinologist/metabolic bone specialist.

I am extremely sorry to hear that so many of you suffer with this cause-unknown lump, yet at the
same time, I was happy to find out that it is not something major like cancer. I too have developed a
lump/bump in the upper middle of my forehead, just below the hairline. I was becoming quite alarmed
because as of late I have been going to pain doctors for my back and a neurologist due to a nerve
disorder. The Neurologist did a study on me and observed the constant trimmers/shaking in my hands
and head. He immediately ordered me to have an EEG and a MRI Scheduled on my head ASAP! I am
to have these test proformed July 6th. So please keep me in your prayers.
Thank you and God Bless,

I have two of these! I did have two IV's in my forehead when I was born because I was premature. I always thought it was because of those. My old roommate had them and was premature also. We were just guessing. Mine have been there for years, but have recently grown. I was thinking of getting them removed or shaved down? I was told it would hurt a lot though. I call them my horns as well haha!
Oh my god i have the same issue as all of, except i know what caused mine.the first one was from a time i fell off the top bunk bed at camp and i didnt ice the bump all the way down because it was too painful. the second one was from when i was playing with this girl and she hit me in the forehead with a stick and a lump just instantly grew about 3 inches on my forehead. i tryd to ice it down all the way but again it was too painful. so now 7 years later they stand out and im in my teen aged years when im supposed to be trying to ''Mac'ing'' all the ladies, im self concious about them being a problem. my question is : Can they go away somehow? or maybe if i keep ice on it for maybe a week strait or something, will it go away? i need a solution, as it bothers me alot!
I had a boney lump on my forehead when i was about 15yrs old. It started to grow and get bigger i couldnt hide it with my side fringe anymore. I got it xrayed and had sugery to get it removed I was lucky because the lump was close enough to my hair line for the doc to make an cut in my hairline so i dont have a scar. I was sore and puffy for a few days but overall a good result. BUT im now almost 20 and the thing is growing back! Im so upset its only been 5 years and its almost back to size it was when i had it removed. I dont wanna have to go through the surgery every few years for the rest of my life! Not to mention the cost, over 2 grand. Has this happened to anyone else? has it grown back??
over 2 grand 1? guess surgery is out 4 me =/ was tht with or without insurance ?
i have had a lump on the upper right of my forehead for about 3 years now, my Gp says it's nothing to worry about and the only way to get rid of it is by surgery. sometimes it gets bigger and sometimes it goes smaller. the pain is excrutiating if i accidentally hit my lump and then it gets really big but sometimes before i go to bed i rub it with some ointment and when i wake up it's really small. can anyone explain to me what it could be?
You can't believe how happy i am knowing am not the only one with this strange stuff on my head.It appeared three years ago and it has been affecting my life negatively.Anytime i tell my mum about it she will just say nothing is wrong with you,i think she does not care because she is not the one carrying a strange thing on her head everywhere i go,there is no way i can hide it because my hair is real low.
I wish there is a drug i can just take to make it disappear.I'm just a teenager i don't need humiliation to start my life with.Please Someone Help Me.
Thanks

i have the same thing!!
its on the corner of my hairlines on the right side, i had this for couple months now, at first i thought it was just a bump but i didnt hit my head in that spot, so i didnt worry about it then i just waited and waited, then yesterday i started to get worried because it may have gotten bigger, not sure, i was pretty scared because i thought it was something dangerous: cancer or a tumor, but i guess you guys had it also for couple years..i might go to my doctors and see what he says
you cant really see mine unless i buzz/shave my head because my hair is covering it
im going to try and find more research about this

Three years ago the doctor told me "Don't worry about it. It's nothing". It is growing slowly and is getting more and more painfull. I have to part my hair on one side to cover it. People call it "my horn" when they see it they ask me when the other one is going to grow. It's above my right eye, two thirds of the way up to my hairline. I first noticed it three years ago. I am 43 now. I want to get rid of it. I don't have insurance. I am trying to get insurance so that I can then wait a year for the pre-existing condition and then have it surgically removed. Even if it grows back, I want it gone now. It hurts, it looks strange, and it's growing.
