i can totally relate to u man i took it for a week and a half and it drove me insane i quit takin it and i still smoke and might until i die but i will never recomend it to anyone
I have been a long term smoker too and am on my 2nd month of Chantix... The first few weeks I felt "weird" and in fact had a feeling similar to "I lost a best friend"... I have been extremely fatigued but I felt that it was since I was NOT smoking.. I apparently felt that the cigarettes with the nicotine was what gave me energy.... As far as the depression, I too have had some of that but I again was not sure if it was the medication or the fact that I am caring for an elderly mother in law that lives with us.. The more I type and think about all of this I am thinking it IS the medication... I have not smoked in 4 weeks and now I only took ONE of the chantix yesterday and today I am not going to take any at all.. I have never gone this long without smoking... I am going to begin my gym membership starting next week and see if I can get out of this FUNK and I do not care to take medications for depression at ALL... Hang in there nau we shall overcome this WITHOUT medication which as we all know is not that great for you.. I am beginning to flush all of the medication OUT of my system and I will hopefully never pick up another smoke again...
People, please get your thyroid levels checked.....all those panic attacks, palpitations, weight loss for me...and all that other c**p was due to my thyroid. I have graves disease and hyperthyroidism. Not saying you all have this, just that doctors don't check and many people could be suffering for nothing...One week smoke free and very little symptoms.
I'm on day 11 and quit on day 8. I try to think of what Champix has allowed me to do was go through the inittial withdrawal affects while smoking. I need to get through 3-5 days when I go cold Turkey, so I figured if Nicotine happy receptors were blocked by Day3, then by day 8, the horrible way I felt would be over day 9 and 10. Day 10 yesterday was great and today is pretty good too!
The one thing people need to keep in mind in regards to the suicides etc on Champix is the full details. Apparently one of the people that did this was completely drunk and on full does of Champix. For me I haven't touched any alcohol, and on no other medication

yes, leg pain, mood swings, panic attacks back pain and it is 3 months later....I would advise anyone to find another method to help you quit...horrid
I m facing lots of problem after taking champix. I have now very short of breath got asthma as a side effect of champix. very very worst decession to take this.
I am agree with you me too facing the same with short of breath also....horriable don't take CHAMPIX.. it will make your life like a dustbin.
My husband took Chantix for 3 months. Doctor told him he may need 6, but he stopped after 3 months.
The side effects have been horrible since he quit taking the drug. My optimistic, enthusiastic husband turned into a gloomy depressed time-bomb, who explodes on a regular basis.
It has been one year and two months since he has been off Chantix. He is constantly distracted, and spaced out. He has thrown things when minorly irritated. His business associates have commented on how difficult he has been to deal with for the past year.
How longs will these effects last? He has shown disregard for my safety as well as his own. (Road rage and eratic driving)
Today was a milestone in my multi-decade marriage - my husband told me to shut the "F" up when I walked in the house and commented on chill in the air. Not sure how much longer I can hang in there.
Ann26. I totally agree with you. In order for Chantix to work, you must follow the protocol. I just finished my third month of Chantix. I have not even had 1 puff of a cigarette! I found that if I eat a meal before taking the Chantix, I don't feel sick. My doctor also prescribed a small dosage of Wellbutrin. I take 150 mg every morning. No mood swings. I have vivid dreams, but not nightmares. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and I do find that I need more sleep. Is that a bad thing? I have smoked for 44 years...1-2 packs a day. This drug works. I still have a desire to smoke, but the urge goes away quickly. I can go many hours now without even thinking about smoking. Quitting smoking has been very hard to do, but I did it. I feel a whole lot better.

I too am having same side effects and wondering what to do
I have been off of Chantix for almost a month and a half and now am still a smoker, but am also now an anxiety-ridden insomniac. I take several prescribed, non-narcotic medicines with "This Drug May Impair The Ability To Drive Or Operate Machinery" as one of the first listed side effects to obtain even two or three hours of restless 'sleep' (if it can be called sleep). After complaining about my insomnia to my Dr over the course of a couple of visits, I finally got him to prescribe me Zolpidem ER - and even this isn't helping! I don't know what to do: I feel like I'm losing my mind! I wish I had NEVER taken Chantix - and I will discourage anyone thinking about starting this medicine from doing so.
I only made it through 4 days the nausea has made me stop. I cut I,all off my smoking hand LOL
I am about half way through my second month of Chantix. I do experience nausea if taken on an empty stomache. As for the dreaming; I do dream. My doctor told me I had COPD which is what led to starting the Chantix. I also have Sleep Apnea and have since began using a C-PAP machine. Before the C-PAP I did not sleep well at all. I would sleep in 1 to 2 hour periods. Snored horrendously. I was always tired and would fall asleep if I was not engaged in an activity. Now I sleep most of the night without waking. Feel refreshed. And I do dream. Don't know if it is the Chantix or if it is because I am finally reaching The REM sleep level that we all need to get the rest needed to recharge our bodies. I quit the cigs one week after starting the drug. have not had one since. I am going to try to start weaning off the Chantix. I hope to be off it in about 3 weeks. This is my second time quitting smoking. I smoked for most of my teen and adult life. I am 55 yrs old. I quit once before for 12 years and started back because of "stress" in my life. I did it then with no drugs; just willpower. I now it will require willpower this time too. I am smokefree as of now and plan to stay that way. I don't want to stay on a drug for an extended period to stay smoke free. I wish all of you luck with your road to being smoke free. I haven't experienced the "bad" effects some of you have posted and I believe what you say about the way you feel. Dig deep inside yourselves and find the willpower to quit. You have it in you; its up to you to find it.
well done!!!! the cravings you get now are probably just the habits...i quit for 54 days on chantix and im really fidgeting sometimes...but not for a cigs...good luck...hang in there :)
