i gave my dog these on saturday and on sunday she was not right, had a seizure, walking all off kilter, very disoriented. When she was younger I have the same experience with pig ears and rawhide chews. Whatever is in these things do not agree with my dog and I will NEVER give her any again, I love her and was really worried. If you look up Grand Mal Seizure , rawhide and dentastix they all will come up in the same search. Dont give any of these to your best friend.

Has anyone had their pup come down with a coat disorder? Changing hair?

We had always given them to our last dog Roxie who sadly was put to sleep because of liver damage. We don't know if it was these Stix that was the cause though. The other evening we gave our Yorkie LOLA one and over the next three days her poo became looser and looser, and eventually we noticed some blood also. We couldn't figure out why. And then we read on line how people are becoming worried about this product. We stopped immediately. And thank God she has fully recovered. Needless to say we are now sick to our stomachs thinking that we may have inadvertently damaged our previous lovely ROXY. X

I know this is an old post but my Schnauzer has been taking Dentastix for a few months now and one day she quit eating. Took her to vet and liver tests are very high. I called Pedigree and asked if they’ve had any reports of this causing and was told no and they were about to end call when I asked if they were going to take MY report!!! I guess I’m the first one!!!!

I am convinced that Dentastix give my dog diarrhea. I bought a package of Dentastix a couple of weeks ago and have been giving them to my dog, and not even once a day. He has been waking me up in the middle of the night to go outside for what I affectionately refer to as "explosiveness," aka severe diarrhea ;) He NEVER wakes me up to go out after we've gone to bed unless he has "explosiveness." This is not the first time I have given him Dentastix. I realize now that the mystery cause of past bouts of diarrhea can be tracked back to Dentastix. There have been times that he's had gastrointestinal distress that I could attribute to people food I let him eat. The unexplained instances I now attribute to Dentastix. I knew at those times that they were the only thing new to his diet, but I naively trusted the advertising claims. Now, I am sure those treats cause my dog to have diarrhea. It is extremely troubling that purveyors of pet products absolutely cannot be trusted. I should have known better.

I don't know if they cause any damage, I have two chihuahua's, I followed the directions and only gave them one a dahy. One ended up with bladder stones. I asked the dentist if after his surgery what treats to give him and if I could continue to give him dentastix. It was a strong NO, He suggested I give them Ora Vet., they are costly. But there teeth are not very good now. They wanted $300 for a deep cleaning on one, They are 12 yrs old, nvr no dental issues until this last yr. you decide.

My dog has had digestive issues on and off and was regurgitating red blotches along with bile. I couldn't figure out why. Stopped Denta six it went away. I gave him one last night and this morning he has the same issues. Guess I will stop using them and hope this is over.

My 2 dogs used to eat these treats every morning. In fact, I would say to them “do you want your treat?” And they’d go nuts.
But in the space of a day or 2, they stopped eating them, completely.
I highly doubt my dogs taste buds had suddenly changed, in tandom.
So I put it down to the recipe of the sticks. Neither of my dogs are a fan anymore. Makes me wonder what was in them, and now what has it hasn’t been added....

My dog was vomiting after a Pedigree Denta Stick, we didnt know the cause at first. New bag of Large Original fed him one a few hours later began vomiting 3 times. Was fine the next day in the evening again gave him a Denta Stick started vomiting again. Now that I think about it bad idea we gave him one at night to verify the Denta Stick was the cause and sure enough started vomiting again, no more Pedigree dentastix for my dogs!!!! Oddly enough our female was fine.

I took my dog to the vet yesterday for 'mature' dog checkup. The vet called me later and said the tests showed he had elevated liver enzymes which might mean he won't tolerate the pain killers she had given me for his arthritis. She asked about his diet and was happy with what he was eating (half of his food is home cooked chicken and vegetables!). Afterwards I realised I should have told her he also has a Dentastix everyday. I have stopped giving him Dentastix and, after googling/researching have started to feed him foods that will help his liver. I'll report back to the forum on whether his liver is healthier after he has a checkup in 3 weeks. I hope it is, as he certainly needs the pain killers.
I also spoke to a woman recently who had been giving her dog Dentastix everyday to keep his teeth healthy. The poor little darling had recently had to have all of his teeth removed - so it looks like Dentastix aren't even good for their teeth. I wish I had done some research before giving them to my dog.

Hi! I just figured out that the dentastix I give to my dogs everyday could be the cause of their liver problems. They eat vet’s recommended brand of food, eat vegetables and chicken breast, so what would go wrong? Then I realized that I give them pedigree dentastix everyday. One dog eats a lot of it, and has higher liver function, but the other one that doesn’t eat much has lower result.

I am 100% certain that DentaStix give my Cocker severe diarrhea. I have no idea how many dogs are affected this way, but I would advise caution if you are considering giving your dog the stix or the treats.

Don’t give these to your dogs!!!
My neighbor gave me an 18 stick bag with 17 sticks in them. She said her dog has colitis and can’t tolerate a lot of new food/treats. Plus after one stick, it gave her dog blow out diarrhea. She just attributed it to her dogs colitis.
I took the bag, but didn’t give one to my dog, who also has a finicky gut….

I gave them to my friend who has a big lab and a big Marmaduke type dog. They eat anything…

This is her text to me after she gave them a Pedigree Dentastix…

Something wrong with those treats. 2 sick dogs today. They are improving finally. Extreme diarrhea. Vomiting. I should’ve known better.

Need I say more????
Thank GOD I didn’t give one to MY dog!
These “Sick Stixs” should be taken off the market!!
Shame on you PEDIGREE!!
SHAME ON YOU!
