Hi everyone! I'm new here, but happy to find this place! I'm amazed at how many people have been injured this way! My injury was much less traumatic than most. A full jar of peanut butter fell from the second shelf of my cupboard on top of my bare right foot. It hurt pretty bad for awhile, but pretty much stopped hurting. Then, a few weeks later, I have so much pain when I put weight on the ball of my foot, especially if I trip over something and come down on it that I could scream! I saw my regular Dr's PA (Dr was on vacation) and she had it x-rayed. Was told the x-rays were normal, but I was referred to a podiatrist (one who also does surgery). She had more special x-rays done, and showed me the space where she feels I might have a lizfranc fracture. I'm having a cat scan done tomorrow morning. I have so many questions and fears! Since it's my right foot, how long before I might be able to drive (if I have surgery or even just casted and non-weight bearing)? Is the casting too bulky to drive with? Another fear I have is my job. I work in an office and just started my job this past October. I love my job, but am so afraid about too much lost time from work since I don't qualify for the FMLA leave. I do have short-term disability available, but I'm not sure if they would or could hold my job for me. My manager says she's extremely happy with me and my work, but this company has zero tolerance for lost time from work. I've been a complete wreck ever since I saw my most recent x-rays and the gap that probably means a lizfranc fracture. I never thought this could be such a horrible fracture until I started reading about it online. I'll end this post now so I don't babble on, but anyone who could help me with answers to my questions would be so much appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read my post, and I wish you all the best in your healing!!! :-D
