Oh my God! I thought I was the only one having this exact problem as jackie listed the symptoms (i.e. a pressure in the head and jaw, continuous ringing in the ears, having difficulties falling asleep, waking up every 3 hours). Now I see that we are a bunch of prisoners going through this dreadful phenomenon.
I have been working until the late night hours on my computer and I was mostly relating it to stress due to living a sedentary workaholic lifestyle and putting the physical activities in oblivion. However, I skipped working on my computer but the situation doesn't seem to get better for me. I had to perform detailed x-ray (with resonance imaging) of my head as this started to frightened me thinking I might have any brain disorders or even tumor, but thank God the results showed everything normal and the doctors recommended that I need to engage myself more to physical exercises.
If anyone out there lives within these same symptoms and has ever found a clue, please do your best to spread the help to the others as we are really driving insane what we are going through :-(
God bless you and thanks for your efforts.

I've searched and searched forums like everyone else. Two things that I'm looking at regarding head pressure are:

Increased intracranial pressure which simulates a tumor(http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/pseudotumorcerebri/pseudotumorcerebri.htm)

and

Occipital neuralgia which can happen just from poor neck alignment, poor posture, exercising, not exercising enough, etc. ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed. It atleast helped me understand how you can have head pressure and nausea without having a migraine.

For others look at "histamine headache" but that is more of a localized pain and not overall head pressure.

Ha, I'm 17 and drank alot last night, about 3/4 a medium sized bottle of whiskey, never been drunk before, first time, whatever, blah. So i woke up this morning from a strange dream and yes, my ears were ringing and my head pressurized. I've had this feeling before i know it but i think i just live with it. I've had somewhat of a chronic anxiety after a panic attack caused by THC a few months ago. Last night I walked out to see a few lady friends and by the time i had reached the apartment complex i could hear my own heart beat, i then decided to go home and rest, and well, here I am! Anyway, if you suffer from anxiety, its best to take your mind off of that issue. If you have a rapid heart beat you may think oh c**p, i'm having a heart attack! thats not the case, and by telling yourself that your brain flares the attack. Turn on the tv, get comfortable, play a video game, whatever. It'll be fine. A hot bath helps loads too.

I have had pressure in my head for 7 months. It is not pain, but pressure. I woke up 7 months ago and had pressure extending from my temples, to the crown of my head. I also have intense ringing in my ears. I am tired and I forget things I ought to remember, such as the password on my computer. I have been to an ENT and he said it was stress. He gave me valium and it didn't help. I went to the Chiari institute and they said I do not have the disorder. Have had 2 MRIs and many xrays. All are normal. The pressure never goes away, even when I am sleeping. I wake up after 3 hours of sleep, I don't know if it is from stress or the pressure. My heart is now involved and I have arythmias. PLEASE HELP IF ANYONE KNOWS ANYTHING

i have the same exact symtoms as you even the heart thing have you found out anymore about this help

It may be that your brain is overactive. Too much neurotransmitter glutamate may cause ringing ears although there are other possible reasons for it too. You may want to try following: kava kava and relora for sleep and relaxing. Maybe also small dose of lamictal may help (higher doses can have terrible side-effects). But if valium didn't help you then its not probably not glutamate (valium reduces glutamate's effects). High cortisol levels may also be reason of heart problems and may be signaling something is going wrong.

If you brain is really in overactive state this is damaging to brain long-term and you may be in a process of developing alzheimer.

I recently posted above. This may sound very very lame for such extreme symptoms but I've solved alot by changing my pillow and forcing myself to sleep on my side. I have some sort of very thin very sensitive blood vessels/passageways on the back of my head and neck. Any pressure on that area for about one minute and I'm a total wreck. The best sleep I've had in a while was sitting up and leaning over against a high backed couch, almost like an airplane sleepng position. It keeps pressure of your head for the most part. When I lay on my back I would wake up and want to go straight to an ER. The pressure evened out one day and as soon as I laid down on a fancy pillow that I thought was helping me it was pure pain within a few seconds. I tried pillow after pillow. The heavy foam, the feather, etc. I now have a regular but flatter manmade material pillow from a bed bath store. My head is not propped up like it used to be, closer to flat and I lay on my side. This pressure is still lingering but it is greatly subdued. I also think that I need to improve my diet and reduce caffeine.

Anybody home?? Why did this board go dead in 2008? :'(

I was getting some valuable information from you folks on this condition, which I also have. My ringing began in my left ear in April 2010. While still ringing in my left, my right ear started up a few months later. I have the fullness and congested feelings and sounds that these folks speak of. I can hear the fluid moving in my estachean tubes sometimes. I sense that I am in a mild, but perpetual anaphylactic state (pardon the spelling). And like others here, sense some bloating around the temples. I had a similar temple swelling condition when I reacted to hair dye. The heart palipitations are alarming, too.

Something must have changed in my diet--and I can't figure out what that is. One clue was just given to me by a poster here: half&half. Maybe that's it? I did start drinking half&half and never had done so in the past.;-|

I received extreme treatments for this disturbing condition at first, taking powerful antibiotics; as the Docs chose to treat it like an ear infection, which may have been the original case. The next extreme occurred when my ENT talked me into letting him slice open the membrane of my left ear, in order to drain the fluid out--not a rewarding experience:-@:-|  I only felt minor, temporary relief after that awful procedure. Screaming like a little girl is not on my bucket list.

Ativan has proven helpful for dealing with the overall anxiety of the ringing. But, I don't sense it alleviates any of the symptoms--like one blogger suggested. That blogger suggested this condition is anxiety related, but anti-anxiety meds only get me through the night--not the condition. But, in that blogger's defense, I work in High Technology manufacturing, which is being given to the Communist Chinese and the NAFTA winners--in one giant sucking sound. The memory of losing my last few jobs--and the spector of losing my latest one has been a perpetual burden as of late.

Thank you for your help, fellow sufferers.

Let's put Doctors out of business.XD

Oh, sorry, after signing up the newer posts became available. Yes, MOLD is the newest theory combined with the half&half route I will be taking. I live on a lake and the mold concentrations are high everywhere. It is quite possible that my symptoms are being caused by mycotoxins from MOLD. I have been trying some chelation type treatments like glutathione pills combined with Pepsin/Hcl and Biotin, but no real progress. I may have to resort to a suppository form of glutathione, because I don't know if it's well absorbed orally.

You guys rockXD

pressure in head for over two years, and finally I google up information pretaining to my pressure in head, and around my eyes and face. It is called Occipital Neuralgia. Google that medical term and see if it pertains to your condition. I see a neurologist and he is looking into it for me. That medical term describes everything that I am experiencing. I hope this will help some.

Do you also have tinnutus? I can live with the anaphalaxis like swelling. My condition may be a combination of things: TMJ, mold, caffeine, stress, old neck injury, etc. Although, 2 MRI's left the Neurologist unimpressed on the neck theory. I will Google that condition and see what it is about. I found my Neurologist quite dismissive. I will certainly look for another. Thanks for responding, Carol. Sly.

I think Paul is on the right track.  14 years ago I got a head cold and next day I woke up with all symptoms everyone describes.  It never went away, over the course of the years the symptoms increased until I have become almost completely incapacitated.  I was a state trooper for 20 years and this thing whatever it is, forced me to retire early.  In any case I too have noted waking up after a brief sleep on couch or especially after sleeping on my stomach to feel somewhat better.  Unfortunately I am not normally a stomach sleeper and it doesn't always help.  But this has to be the right trackPaul wrote:
