OMG people! These are Enteroviruses!! LOOK THEM UP THEY ARE NOT BENIGN! I don't fight them off as I have an Immune disorder and they are taking my life....so ANY docotr that says they are no big deal and won't harm you is full of sh*t!! I am on fed disability because I am so ill~ if you don't fight them you are screwed and worse yet~ there is no cure and our country is WAY behind in research...I guess if enough die, eventually they will do something in the realm of research. We are in the viral age of illness.

I woke up with a headache (shooting pain by my right ear).  I've taken Ibuprofen which has relieved much of the pain.  I think this is a virus - I do not have any kind of medical background, but these "things" do occur as viral situations.  You probably have to wait it out.  If a condition is deemed severe of course you should be seen by your doctor.  My headache began on Sunday morning - today is Monday - and I am feeling better.  No nausea or fever.  Since I never have headaches (usually) I am going to wait it out.  One suggestion - call your doctor's office and ask if there's been such a virus going around?

Omg - two weeks ago I got a slight headache but it stayed with me for 2 days then went into the biggest hell of a headache I have ever experienced.  (I'm a 60-year old female.)  I don't get headaches (maybe 3 or 4 in my life) so I was very concerned.  A friend gave me 2 Excedrin Migraine and within 20 minutes it took 100% of the pain away.  But it came back the next day so I took more Excedrin.  (She said NO MORE than 2 in 24 hours, so that's what I did.)  Then the Excedrin stopped working, so I quit taking it, and after 9 days the headache is finally, finally gone.  I mentioned it to someone at church who said she had JUST gone through the whole week-and-a-half of severe headache last month, and her son is going through it now.  So since mine is completely gone, and both she and her son experienced exactly the same symptoms, I am convinced it was some type of virus.  I went to the Dr. and they took several tubes of blood but I won't hear back for 3 more days, although they found my bp to be (160/104 - has never been that high before).  But after reading these posts, I'll let the dr. know to be on the lookout for the "Headache Virus".  And thanks ehask71 and Headache for letting me know I'm not alone in this!!  btw, my pain was in the lower back of my head, radiating out my left eye (if that makes any sense).

Friday 2-15-13:  The very first indication was a slight headache;

Tuesday 2-19-13: started the Excedrin. Headache now accompanied by dizziness, slight nausea and some confusion (and no, it's not due to the fact that I'm 60!)

Thursday 2-21-13:  the worst of it; I was convinced that I had an aneurism about to explode.

Saturday 2-23-13: Pain started to diminish (it had been coming in waves);

Tuesday 2-26-13: pain was completely gone, with no indication there had ever been a problem.

I agree with this person. I have a head ache and I feel crummy and sore. aspirin extra strength and Gatorade will do the trick , and eat crackers, chicken noodle soup, then rest. Vacations forget it until symptoms are gone. Virus is contagious.

That is a very high blood pressure; Headaches are a symptom of uncontrolled high blood pressure

Hi jeffreyjones you are SOOOOO right - the virus is very contagious! I now know a total of 6 people who have gone through it. And I am convinced that my high blood pressure was due to the headache, not the other way around, because if I had the high blood pressure first then the headache would have been non-stop and I'd probably still have it. Thanks for your input!

The "Headache Virus" lasts anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks... 5 weeks is a long time. If he still has it, might be a good idea to get him checked out?

I suffer from migraines on and off but nothing like this week.  Pain started on Monday and went on all week, which is not unusual. Also had pain in neck.  However on Saturday peaked by pain in head intensfying, upset stomach and pain in neck worse. Went to bed with daughter's Migraleve and tossed about in bed for 2 hrs before it began to settle (felt SO bad debated calling an ambulance, but am not one for going to hospital). Now, 2 days later, all the symptoms finally seem to have gone.

If what you had is the "Headache virus", you may be over the worst except for maybe a little dizziness and/or nausea... I hope we NEVER experience this again!! The strange thing is that no alerts are being put out for it - no doctor, newspaper article, nothing online except for occasional blurbs like these - or maybe it could be stopped much sooner. How are you feeling now, a week later?

My symptoms started 7 days ago, sore throat, fever, aches and pains throughout my body but the headache is the worst ever, I was woken again at 4.30am with a horrible headache with terrible pain at the base of my skull, these headaches have been occurring for the past seven days. I was woken by such a severe headache at around same time yesterday morning that I had to go to hospital, they gave me panadeine forte and sent me home. I am due to fly out to England in 8 days and am worried I will be taking this with me.

Hi Elib, let us hope that the hospital ruled out more serious causes of headaches, and hope that you are through the worst. I was ready to go to the hospital myself, but managed to wait till morning when I went to my doctor's office. She was pretty unconcerned, even after I told her that I don't get headaches and this pain was unbelievable. I had been taking 2 Excedrin Migraine every 12 hours but only got relief for 2 days then it stopped working. I hope you are through the worst of it and it starts subsiding now. It is amazing that the medical community is completely oblivious to this!

I have been out of work for a week with these symptoms. I also have not been able to taste or smell either. I still have the extreme headache and nothing seems to help. My doctor told me I could go back to work but I don't know how i can with this headache and nausea. i haven't had a fever but everything else sounds right.
