When in doubt, talk to your surgeon. My surgury was pretty major and they had me in the boot within 1 week. I couldnt put pressure, but my 4 weeks I was walking along in the boot pretty well. IT IS GOING TO HURT! You have to break through scar tissue. Talk to your surgeon first and foremost, but by 4 weeks most of the bones should be healed to the point that you can walk at at least 50% weight.

I'm approx. 4 days post Tailor's bunion (right foot) and I'm honestly surprised at how well it's going. I'm 17 and i'm currently on summer break so I keep my foot up all day. And that's the key because I have no pain at all. If I keep my foot elevated all day and I don't even have to take any pain killers. I have my mom to help me up and down the stairs and to help me get my stuff for my showers still because I am on crutches and can't do much about that but i'm doing well. I have my next surgery on my left foot in 3-4 weeks. I hope it's all the same experience.

I am in the exact same boat. Pinky toe bone feels like it's just laying on the floor and there is burning pain Dr says from nerve damage. Dr says big toe has great range of motion. I also had plantars surgery on heel and a couple stitches are working out that they missed, it was swollen and i squeeze it and white stuff came out, ouch. I'm a mail carrier and hoping to return to work at 9-10 weeks. This is the last week of a boot then he said to try tennis shoes and depending on swelling if he will release me. I am scared that the demands of the job will really make me swell.

I'm having Tailor's bunion surgery in about 2 months. I put it off until it's a time of year that I knew I would be in the house a lot. I live in Florida in August is so hot here. I was really nervous about the recovery time but reading some of these posts has made me a little more optimistic. How long before anybody could do long walks again. I typically walk 5 to 6 miles a day for exercise.

I had mine done at the same time. I wore giant boots for a total of 8 weeks. As long as I wore the boots I did anything I wanted to do except drive a vehicle. I had surgery on a Monday and was dancing on Friday. yes with the big boots on. I am 64 and have screws in both my feet and will have those removed soon.
