I AGREE wholeheartedly with BSN student's response. Thank you for saying soemthing. Though Nurses see many things as do doctors that does not give you the right to judge others, and I agree I pray I NEVER see you in any physician's office I might be in. I am intelligent woman that also had an ablation for heavy bleeding. I truly thought my life was settled PLUS I never dreamt I would want another child. LIFE CHANGES 9-11 showed us that. Afghanistan took my first husband of over 20 years and I am now with an Iraqi veteran. We have both gone through hell and back and a chance to have a child and see the joy in their face would be amazing for us. I was pregnant once and miscarried, but there was ALOT of stress. So again to anyone judging others, THINK ABOUT your words. Thank you again to the student of BSN, you will be an amazing person and professional. All the best.

I am so against abortion but I agree with the rest except for the heartless and uneducated nurse. We are not put here on this earth to be judgmental. We are here to serve the Lord and that does not mean to judge. We all make mistakes in our lives and to you Ms. Uneducated Nurse you just made one by being hurtful.

Absolutely!!! I got on here to check into w/n I would go thru menopause after having an ablation and I saw this and was AMAZED!! I am 37 and due to extremely heavy periods after having my tubes tied I had an ablation in 2011. Prior to having the procedure my ob/gyn explained crystal clearly to me that I should ONLY do it if I was positive that I did not want to have any more children. I followed thru and since that time have been under the impression that I could not get pregnant...that it wasn't even a possibility and now that I see this I am going to call my ob/gyn tomorrow and schedule an appt so that I can discuss this issue with him because I have two wonderful girls and I do not wish to get pregnant again, however, if, for some reason I did get pregnant I would deal with it but this scares me because apparently it is a possibility and if it happened it would be dangerous, I cant think of my unborn child being harmed because I didn't realize I needed to use birth control....WOW!!! I really appreciate your post and lets hope I can find a method of birth control that won't make me gain weight.

Why on earth would an Rn say anything about abortions when its an ablation question????....I think the Rn needed to vent about an abortion(and then wanting a baby) and her opinion of them without losing her job....either way she shouldn't be in that line of work if she cant handle the variety of work that goes with it......Nobody is the same or thinks the same as anyone else.....Even if 2 people have the same exact thing happen to them they will both think differently about it.....

I had two ablations in 2009 and in 2014 ,became pregnant and carried our baby for almost 5 months. He died in utero but was growing fine until the placenta outgrew the one tiny patch that was sustaining him.
That being said, I immediatley got pregnant again after the D and C from the miscarriage which resulted in another miscarriage at 1.5 months. I have had four chemical pregnancies since and on and off again periods and ovulation. We are now actively seeking a fertiltiy specialist who will be more open to our cause which has turned out to be quite difficult. I had ablation due to extremely heavy periods that were causing anemia and at the time, seemed like the medically correct thing to do but I continued to have periods.
It can be done as long as you have an adequate health care team and support system (in retrospect I needed more advanced doctors and specialists for my pregnancy).

Do you know of anyone who has successfully carried and delivered a baby after an ablation? I know there are risks of this kind of pregnancy. Has anyone done it?

I was wondering how impossible it would be to have a child after an ablation without someone else carrying it?
