I've been taking gabapentin for RSD for the past three years. I used to take 3600 mg a day, but thanks to nerve ablations, I am now just taking 2400 mg. A well-known side effect of gabapentin is weight gain.

Hello.

Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant medication that is sometimes prescribed to help reduce hyperactivity and improve focus in people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It is thought that gabapentin may help reduce the body's cravings for sugar, which can lead to weight loss.

Additionally, gabapentin may also have a calming effect on the body, which could lead to improved metabolism and increased calorie burning.

It is not known to cause hyperactivity. In fact, it is sometimes used to help reduce symptoms of hyperactivity.
