I have a hip fracture and I will have surgery next week. My doctor told me that he thinks that I will walk again very soon. So, can somebody tell me how long will I have to lay in bed because of hip fracture? Tell me your experience, please. Thank you!
I can tell you that patients are usually allowed to begin walking immediately following surgery. Time for complete healing is usually about 12 weeks, but most people are walking well before that time. You maybe can get up with the physical therapist within a day following surgery. I started to walk normally two months after surgery.
