how soon do you lose weight after going of depo provera?

I'm sorry to inform u that those Dr out there refuse to tell the truth when it comes to contraception I took the depo shot 2times only I stopped bcuz of many advice I got from other people thk God I did ,when I started complaining to my Dr he told me the same thing I was 118lb and now im 176 lbs even after 2 yearI tried everything ,diet,exercise, cut sodas junk food the most I lost is 3to 4 lbs.so watch out girl I wouldn't wish to see even my worse enemy in that frustrating state.

i was on the shot for 2 years, when i started i was 116lb and when i got off i was 179 lb, and i've tried working out and eating right to lose the weight. i've tried everything to lose it. i also got bursitis of the hips while on it and my bones a very brittle. i also lost my set drive and had really bad mood swings. even after getting off of it i have no sex drive and have had none stop menstrual bleeding. i got off because i got married and want to have kids soon, but the doctor said i have to wait a year. to others dont do the depo

You are one of those folks who just does not have that weight gain side effect. I have gained 60 lbs in 2 years so bye bye depo!

I had my son on February 23rd/15. I had a placental abrubition and had to have him via emergency c-section. I didn't want to have sex because i was sore and tired, excruciated pain was my daily burden. About a month and a half after I got my drive back, fearing i would get I got the deep shot. Three months after I had another shot. About a month after I received my second shot I began bleeding, I noticed weighed ten lbs more than my weight at the birth of my son. I was depressed and sleepy, ignoring the world around me. I suffer from bi-polar type one and borderline personality disoder, which my physician failed to mention is a reason why deep shots can be extremely dangerous. Yesterday, I tried to commit suicide in the ensuite bathroom as my husband lay sleeping, thank the Lord that he is a sound sleeper and her my tears. DO NOT TAKE THIS SHOT.....

I've been on the depo shot for 5 years, I've never been advised to get off the shot. Even so I am a 5"11" woman, and with my body mass my only other otions are implenon (which im considering) or the pill. Nope. When I got on the depo I was a happy, healthy, athletic, and we'll toned 170 lb 18 year old. I am currently 23, I weight 256 lbs and I gained it all the first year or two on depo. I've been depressed on and off for years, moody, no sex drive and the weight will not come off. I can diet and diet and diet, with exercise and the most I've ever lost was 15 lbs. That came back in a week :( I really hate this shot but I havent had my period in 5 years either... good luck hun.

That's what happened to me came off in october of last year and all the weight that I gained I lost quickly I was at 150 I'm at 133 now....trying to gain the weight back without birth control.

I had two deep shots after my second child. I weighed 155lbs I was due for my third shot on the first of September but since I weighed 175, instead i got a copper IUD. I have lost four pounds in only 3 days. My doctor is hopeful and said I should be my ideal weight (135 lbs) by Christmas. Although, the copper IUD can cause more cramping and heavier periods, my dr said it would be the quickest way for me to have effective birth control and still lose the weight. NON-hormonal forms of birth control are the only way to prevent weight gain.

I started on depo at age of 16 and weighed 11st I am now 18 after just over two years of being on depo and now weigh 14st almost 15! I have swapped to the implant now. I don't recommend depo!

I was the same way! I got off of it after 9 months and I've been off for a year and 5 months almost 6. I've also had a problem getting pregnant too. You having that problem too?

I was on depo for 6 to 7 years. The doctor never told me any side effects. I was 110 lbs normal weight and now im 154 to 160. I have been this weight for 3 years now and it has not budged. I stopped getting the shot in may. May was my due point but i skipped it. I walk more and im more active but im still the same. During the first year of depo i spotted on and off but after that i have not blead in over years. Now im starting again but the pain is terrible and its spotting here and there, then it flows a tiny bit then back to spotting. If i was properly warned back when i would have never done it.

I have been taking this shot for almost 2 years now. My doctor has recommended I change birth control methods after taking depo shots for 2 years continously due to the bone denisty risks. I weighed about 97 lbs and now I weigh 125 lbs. The dramatic weight gain helped me look healthier but my body is covered in stretch marks from the large weight increase in a pretty short period of time. everyone i know gains about 10+ pounds within a year or so. It did help my periods most of the time but I did have month long spotting towards the end of my injection cycle. I would highly recommend looking up dosage recommendations. You really shouldn't get the shots continously for more than 2 years due to the bone density risks

I have been off the depo shot for a year now, I was 175 back in 2012 when I started I am now 256!! I have finally started to lose a little weight that shot has been hell on my body I went on the pill because I still didn't have a period!
