Hiya, I need to ask a question about some symptoms I have that are really bugging me. I'm thirsty all the time so I drink a lot of water and that makes me pee a lot. My friends told me I might have hyperglycemia symptoms because one the main symptoms is frequent urination. Does anyone else out there have this problem. Is there anything I can do to fix this. It makes it difficult at work because I have to keep running to the bathroom. Everyone looks at me as if I have a real problem. But guess what, I guess I do. Sometimes I drink so much water that I think I'm going to float away. You know sometimes my pee smells rather sweet is there a reason for that? Can anyone help?
Hello, What you are describing sounds much like hyperglycemia symptoms. Frequent urination or peeing a lot is a common symptom of high blood sugar levels. This suggests that you have diabetes. It's difficult to tell which type you have at this point whether that is type 1 or type 2 so you need to get a proper diagnosis by seeing your healthcare professional. He/she can do a blood test to find out. This is serious, so don't wait too long to go to the doctor. If hyperglycemia (high blood sugar levels) continues unchecked you can have all sorts of repercussions that you won't be able to remedy. Until you get to the doctor try changing your diet as soon as possible. Try to keep your sugar intake low and make sure you eat protein and some healthy fats mixed together to prevent a sugar spike in your blood. For breakfast, you might try some oatmeal (no added sugar of any kind) with a piece of fruit (your choice) and you can have come coffee or tea (no sugar added). You can also have a slice of whole wheat bread. You can toast it and put a little pat of butter on it. The rest of the day you can lean meat/fish and leafy green veggies. This is just for starters till you get the doctor. Chances are you will need a prescription for insulin or other medication to help get your blood sugar levels down. I wish the best of luck for you.
