Hi, just came on here to check if the symptoms i am getting are related to my underactive thyroid, i was diagnosed just over a year ago now and am due to have my levels checked again in April this year, meanwhile i have started with ringing in my head which happens sometimes through the day but every time i lie down without fail wether it's day or night time, i also get eye twitching occasionally and shooting pains in my forehead and a lot of bad headaches and a like a heavy pressure feeling above my nose sometimes. I feel very relieved that i came and checked on here as i was worried it was something much worse, i told my nurse practitioner but she just put it down to tinnitus and didn't relate it to my thyroid condition at all!

My left eye is droopy too and I have constant eye twitches to the point that it's embarrassing because I am in the medical field and have to deal with patients daily...I started off as hyper in 2006, had Radioactive iodine tx and then went hypo and still am hypo to this day. I have been to multiple endos and none of them can regulate my levels...it's so frustrating! My right eyes is slightly buldging and my left eye is droopy at times I have been to several eye specialists and they didn't do anything but put me on temporary steroid drops and different eye drops...I am at my wits end and do not know what to do...any suggestions would be helpful. I am in synthroid .150 my and cytomel 12.5 mcg currently...

Yes. I've had the ringing in my ear and eye twitching too but only specifically to my right side, I also have hypothyroidism and I'm 22. I don't know the cause of my eye twitches as I'm too scared to consult my doctor and they seem to rush you out too damn quickly... Have you found a solution to the problem if so i need the help too, it's driving me insane! Thanks and all the best. Jex

I have just learnt to put up with the ringing in my head, i mostly hear it at night when i am in bed but just don't notice it as much now to be honest as i must have got used to it. The eye twitching seems to have calmed down and doesn't happen as often these days. I am due to go for a check and my bloods testing in April so will find out how my levels are doing and if my medication amount is right. The main problem i suffer with now is my weight, i'm not getting any bigger but just can't shift the extra weight that i put on before i found out my thyroid was underactive, it doesn't seem to matter what i eat, what amounts i eat or how much walking etc i do, it just won't shift, does anyone have any advice?

I have been to 2 internal med docs, two neuros,a surgeon for second opinion, and one ENT tiwce....and despite the fact that I finally pushed for US neck and got dx of hashis 2 nodules biopsied to confirm....all docs say since my thyroid labs are normal that my thyroid is not my problem. I have EVERY sx of hypothroidism, yes the ears have been ringing for year and a half now, left eye twitches, the whole area under left eye. I have sharp pains in my neck and have begun having expiratory wheezes with each breath audible from mouth....and in addition, I just started having crackles on inspiration. My lungs are clear, these noises are coming from upper airway. I have been an RN for thirty years and I cannot believe how I have been made to feel like some crazy hypochondriac....I take NO prescriptions and I know my body. I have suspected thyroid to be culprit the entire time. Almost 3 years now. The ENT was SO arrogant. Said "I dont know what your problem is, but it isnt your thyroid:. My next move is to convince an MD to order CT of neck and chest. I believe I have a goiter compressing my trachea. Of course, ENT says I just have reflux. You just wait....IF something serious IS found I will be makinga personal visit to several MDs and giving them all a huge piece of my mind...loud enough for everyone in the office to hear. I will not quit searching until I get answers. I have dedicated my entire adult life serving and caring for others and it infuriates me that this one time I am the one that needs help and cannot get it.

Oh yeah, my newest sx is Thryoid Eye Ds. I am having recurrent conjuctivitis, about every 6 to 8 weeks. Eyes blood red and watery and burning. Finally got steroid gel and it cleared up in 2 days this time. It was not pink eye, not bacterial, no white discharge. Plus if it were infection, it wouldnt have cleared without antibx ointment. If I dont do something, I will be blind and deaf.....my BP is up 20 points as well. They say it is from anxiety.....I am a calm person normally. Yes I am upset, but the BP is thyroid related as well. I am the only convinced of it apparantly.

Hashimoto's is the cause of hypothyroidism. Ask for the two blood tests for thyroid antibodies. That will confirm Hashimoto's and yes, it is your thyroid. Insist that they put you on at least a small dosage of Levothyroixine. It has helped me quite a bit. Good luck.

Honestly this sounds like mold allergens in your breathing space. And you have developed an increased response to it. Try getting your B vitamins in balance, magnesium and vitamin D all with daily vitamin C. Also try air filtering the spaces you spend a lot of time. Best regards, SP

My symptoms exactly. I tried conventional meds, regular Doc, endo Doc, eye drops etc...Nothing worked and I was getting worse every day. Now, I'm seeing a naturopath. She has me on natural remedies and I'm feeling better every day! My right eye is starting to look normal again! :-)

Been on the thyroid drug roller coaster for 25+ yrs after becoming hyperthyroid then having a thyroid radiation treatment recommended by a doctor. Don’t do this!! Seek a Homeopath for help for either Hypo or Hyper thyroid issues. Either could be caused by stress, diet, nutrition & lack of vitamins & minerals. The thyroid gland needs selenium & iodine to work properly & many people are deficient. With all the stress & problems in the world today our bodies and immune systems are under attack and women especially can have thyroid issues. Eat well and exercise gals...have a Homeopath run some thyroid tests and not just a TSH-Thyroid Stimulating Hormone test like a GP does. There are many tests...T3, Free T3, T4, Free T4 & others. A good Endocrinologist will order these other tests as well but then you may become connected with Big Pharma. Read, study & seek advice before having any medical procedures. My radiation treatment 25+ yrs ago led to a Parathyroidectomy this summer; nodules behind the thyroid gland that regulate calcium levels. Had one removed that was affected causing severe Osteopenia, nearly Osteoporosis. A lot of damage was already done before it was discovered.

PS... I’m also experiencing eye twitching & ear ringing. Seems to come & go plus twitching can change eyes. Drives me crazy! I’ve eliminated caffeine for nearly 2 yrs but believe it’s one of my ever changing thyroid medications. Thanks for post about degenerative joint disease possibly causing it. Have a lot of spine issues, injuries & Osteoarthritis. Hard to pinpoint the cause. Here reading & learning like everyone else...& praying.
