Had LSH (laproscopic supracervical hysterectomy) in 2011. Remained in pain and constantly felt like my vagina and/or anus was going to fall out constantly. My gyno blew me off. PCP found a new group of gynos and new doc removed my cervix via lap & vagina. Nightmare after nightmare I've had 2 hysterectomy's. Seven months after 2nd hysterectomy, I'm pooping enormous logs every other day which I have to do acrobats on toilet to push out.. they are so huge and heavy they clog toilet so I have to manually pick the poo-brick out of the toilet and dispose of it in the trash can. I weighed one of these logs and it was 7 ounces. Mind you, I have to take 2 Dulcolax tabs at bedtime every single day. My gyno's new diagnosis is Interstitual Cystitis which he prescribed Amytriptyline 25mg for (works on central nervous system to subdue nerve endings in pelvis) AND he does "Bladder Instillations" of a "cocktail" of lydocaine, some steroid, and another fluid INOFFICE via a tube into my uretha: OUCH. However, it does seem to calm my pelvic pain to a certain degree. I believe the colon aspect is being overlooked. I believe colon has slipped into position where uterus was and everytime my body produces a poo-log it forces my bladder to prolapse into vaginal wall. I have appt with gyno this tz and will discuss this matter with him. Sounds like I need the tests you had: defacography for cystocele and rectocele and sigmoidocele. Please note that I'm a youngish widow (47) with a very active 12 year old son and no help. I cannot believe this is happening to me. I'm so tired of the laproscopy toys the docs like to use. I feel like they need to cut me open from pelvis to chest and go thru each and every organ the old fashioned way. It's not fair my son has to live with me in a handicap state. This should be so simple... we can put a man on the moon right? BTW, if a man had to endure this sort of problem: it would be researched and resolved immediately.

Forgot to mention: THE PELVIC PAIN COMES WITH SEVERE SWELLING and I sometimes look 9 months pregnant. I have to wear loose fitting beach cover-up's or walk around with a towel wrapped. The only thing that makes the pain go away is enormous ice packs.

After my last surgery (to remove the cervix) , I thought the RN must have been pushing fake pain med into my line. She claimed the Delodid was more powerful than morphine drip. I suffered over 24hours with massive pain and pressed the nurse button atleast once/hour for relief from the pain. She kept injecting something into my IV line saying it was all the doctor prescribed but it was supposed to be stronger than morphine. Either the RN was indeed stealling the shots to sell on the street (a stretch, I realize the paranoia there) OR MY BODY WAS SO TRAUMATIZED from the surgeries that nothing could touch the pain. Afterwards the hydrocodones often would not touch the pain either. I've some saved up which I use when I can't calm the pain with ice and even then I have to take a 800mg Motrin to help with the pathetic hydrocodone. THIS IS WARRANT FOR great concern!!! Hello doctor can ya please help me out here??? New co-pay starts in Jan 2013 with is $2500/year... so two years now $5k and I'm still not functioning. HELP.

Have you ever looked into pelvic floor or visceral physical therapies? They helped me tremendously... It's called biofeedback... good luck!

Also, when my cuff tore, they pushed delodid 3x in one hours. I was high as a kite but it did NOTHING for the pain. I finally asked for 1000mgs of tylenol and found relief. The drs were baffled

I also had a hysterectomy in 2004 and 8 years later began having right sided pelvic pain. I having a lot of trouble with constipation. I was bent over but they still have not found out what is going on. I have also a flat stomach with a pouch also loosing crazy weight but not trying to. Do not let the doctor tell you anything like that because when you have anything wrong with you your body will let you know because pain is something that we have to let us know what is going on because we were created to heal on it own, but some doctor have made matter worst.

I found this site when searching for answers. I had a robotic laparoscopic total hysterectomy (still have tubes and ovaries) a week ago today. The pain from te surgery isn't bad-but the pain from BMs or lack thereof) is excruciating. I'm praying that this goes away and I don't ave to deal with this for years. According to my gyro, the surgery went well ("text book"). I'm not feeling like that's the case, however. I feel worse today than the day of the surgery - ridiculous.

I am so sorry to hear all the things you all had to go or are going trough with an hysterectomy. And I thought this procedure has been gone for ever and maybe it is safe but it looks like it's not! What is safe? My problem is not with hysterectomy. It is with the newer "version" of it: the ESSURE! I have been having so many side-effects and am afraid it's going to just get worse. So I did my research to see if what I did was really bad and see if I could have done something similar to the ESSURE. But apparently the hysterectomy is not safe either. After spending so much time researching and reading, I think he hysterectomy is still a little safer than the Essure. All of you out there, whether you had the hysterectomy or the Essure, you are not alone. Keep me in your prayers and I will do the same.

I also had a hysterrectomy mine is recent, December 6, 2012.  I had a 4 pound fibroid tumor removedr so they thou, not only did the surgeron remove the tumor, she also cut my bladder to.  Well that was the begining of all my troubles.  I had a jackson pratt bulb draining the fluid from my bladder, oh so they thought, I spent 7 days in hell gas pains, not being able to move my bowels, I had a cathether, in me for 8 days I was in the hospital for 11 days.  Now I found out that the jackson pratt drain retracted back in my abdomen, and they didn't know where the fluid from this thing hanging off my side was coming from.  Nice huh.  They had all these different doctors come in I was high off morphine, My surgeron told me they were going to do a bed side proceedure to make it more comfortable for me with this jackson pratt drain.  Well it didn't work.  They sent me down for 3 test, one was for my bladder this one was was hell because they filled my bladder with fluid, the other one was for my bowels, (found out that I had 2 marble size gallstones) The other test was for my  chest. When I got back from the testing maybe about one hour later my doctor resident came to tell me I needed another surgery.  I was pissed, but I couldn't say anything because I was in so much pain, omg the pain gas pains, bloating I couldn't move my bowels.  Well they did the surgery.  They checked my bladder again to see where the fluid was coming from I guess they couldn't figure it out, my bowels folded over so they had to fix that.  Now you would think while they had me open they would have taken care of my gallbladder right.  Hell no, They claimed that it's not bothering me because I didn't have any trouble with it before, now everytime I eat omg I feel the food moving threw my intestines.  I had this second surgery December 13, 2012.  I finally moved my bowels 2 days later.  It was massive. When I finshed it resembelled a basketball (gross)  They took the cath out the 8th day of my stay in the hospital, I was told on the 1st surgery that I would have to go home with the cath for 10 days.  Now I went home on the 17th of December 2012, in so much pain I gave them a stool sample before I left, got a call from my doctor 2 days later telling me my stools were infected.  My incision hurts so bad I had the staples removed on the 26th of December, Now I have a urinary infection, hurts when I move my bowels my left hip hurts constant.  What am I going to do.  I can't use it, it hurts when I pee.  I am always tired, and these gas pains are killing me.  I have to get bladder treatments for 6 weeks once a week.  When I lye down on my side it feels like my bowels are tilted with me, like they just filpped on their side it really feels funny.  By the way my uterus was taken, one ovary, and my cervix.  Nice christmas present.  I hope to god that I heel well and not like the other women on this forum.  Please god help me.  I'm going to get a lawyer.

I used to have that same pressure/urge to go. Never had an issue before my hysterectomy. I went through biofeedback, which is pelvic floor physical therapy as well as visceral therapy. Turns out my pubo rectalis muscle was in spasm, not letting stool into the rectum. Sure, I had the urge to go, but nothing would happen. I experimented with many things. Currently, and what IS ACTUALLY working- 3 fiber gummies with a bottle of water after dinner, 4 Magnesium citrate supplements, about 800 mgs and a new thing I swear by... the Squatty Potty. After reading reviews on Amazon I decided to give it a try. It really does work, after you get over the initial period of feeling silly on it. Before I would have to strain and strain, and usually produce nothing. Now I don't even notice! It's really been a life saver. I'd also like to say a big fu to the GI doc who told me long term use of laxatives is safe and non-addicting. She also told me I had IBS and a few other things. If anyone is having issues, spend the $40, try it. If it doesn't help after the first week, try the fiber. BTW, that is the only fiber that doesn't make me bloated and sick. Then the magnesium. This one naturally relaxes the smooth muscles helping ease things along.

I did try veggies, but then my body adapted and they no longer worked.

Hello everyone,I am sad to see that so many of us are dealing with similar issues, but I am glad to know that I am not alone with my issues after a hysterectomy.  I had a partial hysterectomy in June of 2011.  I needed to have it due to severe monthly pain, bleeding and a fibroid that could not be removed.  I am glad that I had it, as I had such severe and unpredictable pain and bleeding.  None the less, I now have different  problems, like everyone here.  I have digestive/elimination issues now, to the point that I have had bleeding when having a bowel movement.  I did have digestive issues prior to the surgery, but relatively minor, and different.  I was so worried and scared about the bleeding that I returned to my GI doctor.  She said that it is common for women to have digestive and related issues after having a hysterectomy.  In my case , she thought that my pelvic floor muscles were the issue.  They were not working right, and that, plus the constipation was causing bleeding.  I had a flex sig also, and agree with many that I too have a sharp bend/ turn in the sig. colon (forgot the proper name, sorry).  This made the procedure painful.  She did  see lesions though, and at least nothing seemed cancerous.  She prescribed a course of treatment for pelvic floor rehab, biofeedback and also, the use of medicine as needed to help with bleeding if needed and a night time mild magnesium type powder called Natural Calm.  The treatment, albeit a bit invasive and awkward, really helped me.  So does the Natural Calm supplement.  I also need to drink a  lot of water every day (which I do not like).  I need to be dilligent with the water and Natural Calm powder/drink.  I recently fell of course with my treatment and water drinking, and I have the bleeding back (so scary and abnormal).  I will go back on the right path and hopefully will get better.  I will need to have a colonoscopy as well within the next year.  I may need to return to seeing the occupational/pelvic floor treatment specialist also for more support and treatment.  My GI doctor has really tried to help.  When I told my OBGYN about all this, she said. "I have never heard of anything like that happening before!". I was shocked by this...........she did not acknowledge the reality of my problem at all.  He acted like it was no big deal.  I have found these issues to be embarrassing and frustrating
