I smoked my last cigarette on September 12th.  I hate not smoking.  I hate the 40 lb. weight gain, the digestive upset, the hives, the shortness of breath, waking up at night in tears and panic, crying over the smallest thing, the boredom, not having anything to do when I take a break.  Nothing smells good, nothing tastes good.  My skin and hair now have a rancid smell that won't wash off and makes me nauseous.  My complexion is a pasty gray like unbaked pie dough.  Friends say I smell bad and am embarrassing to be around.

If this is what non-smokers experience every day, I don't know how they stand it.  Life used to be good; now it's a never-ending nightmare with new aches and symptoms of sickness showing up every day.

I'd like to find the person who convinced me to do this and hurt them.

I quit smoking on Oce 16th after 40 year's of doing it, i feel nothing like what you are feeling, actually quite the contrary! After a few day's i noticed that i was not short of breath anymore, i have not gained a pound of weight, there is no moodiness or crying, don't have time to be bored, food taste's better to me and i certainly DON'T smell...at all. Sound's like there may be something else going on with you, you should see your doctor.

It has gotten to the point where i don't even think about lighting up anymore, tho my husband smoke's right in front of me, at my request. He will quit soon, i hope. Get your self some gum or tootsie pop's, they helped me, roll a small ball in your hand to keep them busy, chew on a tooth pick. Are you drinking enough water? Water will help your complexion greatly. Just DON'T start smoking again as you have come so far. My daughter remarked the other day how nice it is that when she hug's me she doesn't smell that nasty smell in my hair, my cloth's don't stink anymore either. My grandson will be born in April and i will be watching him while mom and dad work, they HATE cigarette's, so now i don't have to worry about that. Just keep yourself and your hand's busy and check in with your doctor.

Thanks, I'm so glad to hear that it's just me and that no one else feels this way.  I wouldn't wish this on anybody.  Thanks for the advice, I'll see how I feel after the stresses of Christmas and the New Year are over.  If it isn't any better I may consider medication.  Ironic, isn't it, that the the treatment for drug addiction is more drugs!:|

Wow, I am so sad to hear this...the last time I quit smoking which lasted 6 months, everyone was noticing that I had rosy cheeks! And I could smell the rose body lotion I slatter on myself which in years gone by (42 years of smoking) was just the stale ciggy smoke that I had grown accustomed to....I have put on weight and continue to want to munch..but I am glad to hear that we should all take more enzymes to help our digestion. that I will do! God Bless and I hope you do see some positive outcome. At least, we save lots of money, money that can go into buy good food.

I regret quitting.

I quit earlier this month and noticed that I've had issues focusing and staying awake. I'm fairly certain I suffer from ADHD and that it plays a part in why I crave nicotine.
