Does having 3 kidneys make you fat? because im overweight and I tried everything
Reply
No, being overweight is not a side~effect of a dual collection system. The weight added by the additional organs is negligible.

I too have three kidneys, all in good working order.  All are normal sized, but the problem is that I am beginning to have much urgency every hour to void my bladder.  I had the bladder repaired a few years ago, and have begun to lose the ability to "hold it".  I am much too young for Depends or daily pads.  How can I strengthen my "holding tank" and get more than an hour of sleep at a time?  With three kidneys, the twins on one side create stones, but do not stop the urgency to P.  Aside from drugs, is there a natural mineral or vitamin that will slow things down a bit?  I am told I have had quite a few cysts in the bladder.  Is this the cause of my urgency now?  Someone, HELP!

Do kegel exercises. Both men and women can do them. Also make sure you do not drink at least 3 hours before you go to sleep. Experiment with the time and find a time that works for you. Don't rely on drugs. Just find a natural rythm that works for your body.

Try Doctor Bauer, Bostons Childrens Hospital, MA. My daughter has 3 kidneys and has nothing but trouble, and all the urologists here only see kids 18 and over! He helped us after 4 years of pure hell, utis, back pains and headaches.
Good Luck

I have 3 kidneys and was successfully treated as a child with simple sulphur drugs - no problems for 35 years now, of course everyone is different but you need to find a doctor who can apply simple logic and not just the latest treatment fashion.

Sounds like our story my daughter was told that she has 3 kidneys after a CT scan done in the ER she has frequent kidney infections has had them her whole life. She was not continent until she was 18. Wish they would have caught this sooner. Not sure what we can expect from here she is 22.

You should see an urologist as soon as possible. I was born without valves in the pipes that connect my dineys to my bladder, so the urine would push back. When I was 3 years old this was fixed by a simple operation where my bladder was "re-implanted" an the pipes from they kidneys were inserted in between the two layers of the bladder, so when the bladder is full, it presses the pipes shut. Anyway. I sometimes get infections too. But I had another operation recently to make my urethra wider, since then the infections cleared up. You really really nee to ask your GP to refer you to a urologist.

I have one and one half kidneys and the small one is failing.

I was told the problem is the mismatch in size.  I guess a third

kidney would cause the same problem if it was a small one.

I was born with three kidneys, two on the right and one on the left. Doctors damaged my upper right kidney valve where it flapped back and forth instead of allowing the urine only to exit.

I was feeling awful for about a year when they found I had contracted an undiagnosed UTI. They had to do emergency surgery to remove it.

It is an inherited trait. One of my grandfathers has it two and several cousins also have it.

I would never have kidney surgery again knowing what I know now. It took months to recover and because of improper healing, I am still on a lifting weight limit  of 5 lbs.

I am in a whirlwind of tests and findings- What I am seeing on the internet is there is a connection between kidney and uterine abnormalities (both of which I have) at development- so my take was a congenital issue.

My third kidney was found just yesterday while checking out a new found aortic insufficiency- also being blamed on a congenital abnormality.

This now makes three separate conditions blamed on my own fetal development. I dont even want to know what more can be found.

I will be taking a more proactive stance on all of these issues- I'm only 40 y/o and need an aortic valve replacement. I've had horrific problems carrying pregnancies to term.

I share this, hoping other women w/ 3 kidneys also have their reproductive organs assessed for any further issues.
