Hi guys, I have a question. Is a BG a 4 a hypo for type 2 diabetics? I don't seem to have any symptoms that I'm aware of but that seems kind of low. Other diabetics I know tell me they experience dizziness. I don't seem to get this or perhaps I'm just ignoring the symptoms. Anyway, I need to know if a BG of 4 indicates hypoglycemia for type 2. Everything I'm reading on the Internet seems to be contradictory so I don't know what to think. Maybe it depends on the individual and how long the level lasts. Anyone have information on this. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Hello. I've done to my doctor a number of times with a BG was a 4 or below and so far he tells me that everything is okay. I only experience this once in a while and I don't feel dizzy at all. This is definitely a hypoglycemia but too extreme and as long as it doesn't last for long you'll will be okay. My doctor has told to drink some fruit juice or you can have slice toast and some milk. I just don't like milk, it's for babies. Any which way you should be fine. On the other hand, I have gone as low as 2.4 and when that happens I experience symptoms. I start shaking, I'm nervous and tend be confused. Even at this point I can eat something quickly and raise my blood sugar levels.

So, answer to your question is, yes a BG of 4 is hypo for type 2 diabetics. However, if reading occurs for the short term, you shouldn't have a problem. Just remember to drink some fruit juice and possibly have a piece of whole wheat bread and you should be fine. I tend to have low sugar levels in the morning when I wake up but I eat something quickly, so it hasn't been a problem. Hope that was helpful.
