Is it my first period? I had brown discharge over the course of about 5 days last month

I had brown discharge over the course of about 5 days last month and I am having bloody brown discharge this month for 3 days so far around the same time as last month. I am confused as to whether or not this is my first period because it does not consistently flow and sometimes stops for a full day. It only happens for about 30 minutes at a time every 12 hours? help I am really confused
