I totally oppose to you. Karate is that much useful for children. Its also improve the physical health. The children learns to exercise regularly several times a week, which is one of the most useful lifetime habits. Its also improve of mental health.

Hi. I'm 12 and I do Karate. It all depends on the instructor and the type. My instructor was bonkers! If you want them safe, make sure there are no tournaments or actual PHYSICAL one on one fights. The only way we fight eachother is shadow boxing. And sometimes we fight eachother a bit but we have to be so gentle. I'm only on my second belt.

Karate instills a false sense of confidence in children through the cooperative nature of the training and numerous omissions of inconvenient truths. Training is typically done through cooperation (you flip me, then I’ll flip you) and for legal reasons they do not teach knee kicking or much below the belt; and the defenses against weapons are useless if the assailant is too close, or too far. Street fights are very different than what karate prepares students for.

The best defensive training for children is to teach them “Look for parents with children and ask them for help, or to run to them screaming for help.” and also to teach them to ask the police for help if they feel threatened, or are lost. It’s foolish to give children a false sense of strength and to fill their heads with lies like “You will use the opponents strength and size against him.” Try that against a molester four times your size and you’ll come over to my way of thinking real quick.

If you really love your children teach them how to avoid danger, teach them to be respectful, humble and kind to others, teach them helpful skills and trades; but don’t let them learn the martial arts unless that is how locals really fight, you live in a lawless land- but opponents are always fairly matched by size, and fighting is common place.

would you not want your children to be able to prevent danger... go figure..

Well hi I'm 15 and I am a 1st degree black belt in Judo and Taekwan do. If your son really likes karate take him to TKD because karate is c**p. TKD means the way of the fist and foot, that means you also learn how to control your emotions karate just tells you you should beat up your enemise when they attack

Karate is good and safe for kids if you choose a good trainer. It is also a one way t oexercise your child. I already try that on my eldest. But I didn't stick on that only. Kids are easily bored on the things so I also enroll her at

for her to have a healthy living. Kids need to play around and i think that participating in regular physical activity prevents or delays the development of many chronic diseases (e.g., heart disease, diabetes, obesity, hypertension) and promotes health.
