I have had the same problem! I am so glad to hear it isn't just me! I have been through some rough c**p in my life and have developed a high pain tolerance but the stent pain was way worse than the stone itself! I'm a bit pissed to! My urologist said I would barley notice it except when I went pee um I call BS on that. But I went in to get a ureterscopy but my ureter was to swollen so they put in the stent and I have to return again for them to try again toget my other stone so great!
Hi there, I know you posted this a year or more ago, but I would like to thank you!!! I am 28 and just had the stent three days ago, and found it so helpful getting an opinion from a woman who went through this as well. My doctor did prescribe any pain meds for me, I am in constant pain and discomfort and could barely walk the first two days. I have been taking beet juice and water to help with the symptoms, and oh my the bath soaking helps sooooo much! Altough, I am starting to worry about laser to pass the stone 1.62 cm, it looks like a lot is awaiting, and did the stent removal hurt as much as putting it?
So again thank you and really appreciated the detailed suggestions.

I just had a stent put in on Thursday it's now Monday for a 10 millimeter stone that blocked the ureter and I was functioning on one kidney for god-knows-how-long there's severe infection so they're doing antibiotics and the stent to drain and I'm still in so much pain I didn't even think of the heating pad I'm going to try that along with some ibuprofen to go with the pain meds they gave me we'll see if I get any relief that way
I had a lodged kidney stone they zapped it out yesterday. I told every Dr I had this procedure done in October of last year. I barely could handle the pain and said I'm scared to have it done again. I tried to get out of the second one. The Dr said if I don't need a stent they wouldn't put one in, but they ended up putting one in argh. The stent is so painful, makes me feel like I need to pee every 5 minutes. I feel like I need to do a bowel movement, but not yet wonder when someone might be able to do a BM? I read not from my discharged paperwork, that it's so swollen down there is "normal". A person told me that really helped last time and it is to drink coconut water with lemon juice. Wished the Dr told me. I hope your recovery goes as fast as possible!
They gave me a pain med, a sea sick patch, spasm med, flexal, for pain and such but after the general anesthesia wares off I hope everything is better then the last time

I had read somewhere that Aleve works really good to ward off the pain. This helped me more than Tylenol! But I didn't have my hydrocodone prescription during this whole episode, until after the stent was removed. Minor pain from an 8 mm stone in my kidney, very little pain after laser surgery to get rid of it, and no pain getting the stent removed, just uncomfortable. I walked out of that dr office feeling like a new woman, 2 hours later was the worst pain I have ever felt. So bad I almost threw up. That is when the hydrocodone and Aleve come in handy. The next day the pain was gone, but I'm still feeling nauseous. I'm ready to feel good.
Been having pain where the stent placement was done
So I just had 2 stents in both kidneys it has only been 5 days since the surgery they were worried about acute kidney failure because neither kidney was able to pass enough urine through. This isnt my first rodeo with kidney stones but it is my first with stents. I can truly say this is by far the worst pain I have ever Experienced by far pain killers like the percicet I am on only work for about 2hours max , however when they put in the stents they said they had a difficult time because the left side I additionally had the pain had so many impacted stones they found a severe infection behind the obstructing 9mm stone along with multiple little 3mm and 2mm stones behind it. They had to blast through it to get the stent in. I am on antibiotics now but the flomax and Ibuprofen (they only gave me 6 percicet for pain been out since my 2nd day home) Nothing takes the edge off plus I am passing dime and quarter size blood clots with my red urine I drink 3Liters of water a day And I rather get shot then Urinate (and birth was a breeze compared to this ) Kidney stones by themselves seem more tolerable then having the stents It made my pain 100 ×s worse I am about to go back in because walking is even inbareable bumps on the road bending over is just insane
I had the stent procedure done. Now after a week my right side is still burning with the pain level around 7-8. Seems to be worse in the wee early hours. I have thought about taking an ibuprofen but more than one doctor has said that I should stay away from? I really think that it might work! If it doesn't get better tonight I'll be taking a couple. I will see what happens?
Hi, yes I'm so glad i found people here that know what i'm going through. I had a stent placed on my left side a week ago, and although until 2 daya ago i just started to feel like myself, the burning sensation is still there all the time. I just hope that time passes quick so they can take this thing out of my body!
I know drinking lots of fluids like water and cranberry juice helped me, also doind a little walking around the house, taking warm showers and wearing comfortable clothes.

3.4 cm stones here I feel your pain
Please tell me how the removal went?
I've had massive kidney stones since December 2016, developed septecemia, the hospital out in a Stent because those stones weren't coming out unaided and I needed surgery time. Well let me tell you. The pain after the first Stent, I can't explain, a little numbing gel, the dr said I would feel a slight discomfort....... really, it was brutal going in, I nearly list my company because I couldn't work, the constant pain and peeing myself all the time was terrible. I'm a driving instructor, and on so many occasions during lessons, I would get this over the top intense pain in my bladder, and the my entire bladder would empty itself, not just a little drip, my entire contents of my bladder, right there, I had to cancel so many lessons, so that I could get home to clean myself and my vehicle. There were says that I could not get out of bed, it was so intense, so often during the night I would wake up to use the toilet, but the moment I stood up, it all came gushing out, I had to replace mattresses, carpets and my dignity. Standing at a checkout to pay for groceries, whoosh, I'm standing in a puddle if my urine, I just cried. Well long story and drama short. I eventually had my Stent removed on 1 sept, I got myself so worked about having it taken out, thinking it would be the same trauma of having it put in. Having the Stent out was the only relief I've had in almost 10 months now. There was slight discomfort when it was taken out (my Dr also tryin to add a bit of humour) he wrapped it in a cloth brought it up to face and said, look it's a girl!!!! Instant relief, no pain, no sore bladder or kidney, no pain peeing, up until a week ago, 6 days after the Stent came out. Extreme pain in my kidney area. I just can't do this again, I really, really cant

My hubby just had a stent put in 2days ago ...he is bleeding when he pees...it's more blood then pee.....but we went to the ER They told us it's nothing go home .......should er go to another ER...
No, I had the same thoughts. Called the hospital several days in a row. It is scary but apparently normal.
Try asking for Toviaz, its a medicine that is used for over active bladder but it calms everything and stops the spasms that are causing the pain, it has helped me so much. Ask for samples as its expensive but it has been a game changer for me. I got my stent on monday and today is saturday and last night was pain free!!
ask dr for toviaz sample its for over active bladder but has worked wonders for me!!
