Yes!!!!! My girlfriend told me the same thing. I've even sweated from the lower back area a few times!
Thank you so much for posting this! I just started Vitamin D supplements at the recommendation of an acupuncturist. I too am having the same problems (right kidney), I've had contrast MRIs, Ultrasounds, a renal lasic scan to see if the urine is backing up into my kidney (ie ureter is damaged or too small to drain from kidney to bladder properly), and all they ever say is that I have a few small stones but they shouldn't be causing pain! But EVERY DAY it hurts so bad when I wake up. I think you may be on to something with the citric acid though because it's a lot worse when I drink wine so I'm trying to cut that out completely and the Vitamin D supplements I hope will work too. I am also taking a potassium Magnesium combo supplement she recommended. And I've read that baking soda can help too. It's just crazy how much money I've spent with specialists and here I am, trolling a message board from a year ago, hoping for the best. Good luck to everyone, I hope you all feel better soon.
It could be your adrenal glands that sit on your kidneys. Adrenal fatigue?
I have always thought this had something to do with my over indulgence in alcohol at the weekends or soft matress on my home bed. When i go to work, (frequently), i sleep on harder mattresses and it seems to not happen.
I also sleep on my front mostly and wondered if it was the arch in my back that was doing this?
Right now though i am noticing my stools and urine smell a lot stronger than usual, which is usually a good indication of problems.
Lastly, i am noticing nearly every user mentioning the lack of drinking water regularly, i also fall into this bracket, with regular coffee consumption, i am starting to think the dehydration is a major player in this.
Think a few lifestyle changes and perhaps a new mattress will be trialed first, then will see where i am at with it. Will post findings.

Well l am experiencing the same issue every day and have been for about 4-5 yrs now.
The doctor found a growth on my kidney and they said it is fine, l have my doubts and l worry because the pain is so bad l have to get up and it seems to subside a little bit and then disappears. I can relate to you all, I just wounder why the Dr's can not pinpoint the problem If my Kidney is ok. The pain l have is over the right Kidney in early hrs of the morning and Yes sitting up sleeping seems to help but find it hard to drop off to sleep, thus l am so tired the next day when l have to work.

I thought I was trippin because everyone is telling I don't know what I am talking about and that it is just back pain but I know different and the pain is Un bareable I can only wonder if it is all of the methods please reply
I think Vitamin D might be something to do with it - had an old friend over who has always suffered from SAD syndromn and bingo - she's vit D deficient! Clever body telling her what she needs to know - trouble is as a dog-sitter, I walk every day 365, so I must be well up on Vit D intake in comparison with others who may not be out 7/365? I do drink (way too much) but since being on 5:2 I don't seem to have so much pain (bloating also!) - is booze/pmt and vit D linked?
I am 16 and this pain in the morning started since i was 14. I wake up ever single morning with pain in my flank area (from the hips to the my kidneys), it seems to start at just above my hips and as i stay in bed, the pain seems to go up towards my pain and then then there is that moment that when i breath in deeply and inflate my stomach, i can feel my kidneys and they feel sooo sore and sensitive, it hurts like mad. And all this happens in 30 minutes after i wake up once but still stay in bed (half sleep basically). So now what i do is that when i wake up i stand up (even if its 3 oclock in the morning) and walk for 30 min and then go back to sleep. The pain literally goes away when i stand up, withing 5 minutes.
I drink plenty of water, my urine is quiete pale. I have had kidney infection 2 times when i was 9 and then 12 so i thought i had kidney infection but the pain was soo different and the urine test didnt show anything. I didnt go to the doctor's since they said they didnt know what it was but the pain had gotten. Now even in the day, my right kidney seems have a dull ache every now and then and sometimes it can become sharp when i move alot
BTW, i have noticed that most (if not all) the people on here have a right kidney pain. Is the right kidney somehow different than the left.

Towards my KIDNEY* (sorry)
For me it was caffeine/coca cola. When I stopped drinking (after a few days), the pain went away.
Thankyou for taking the time to write this...It has helped me figure out what my issue is! I began eating very poorly about 4 months ago, due to a totally overwhelming schedule. There was zero time to cook and I gave in to eating all kinds of processed foods (not my norm). At the same time, I quite taking all my vitamins and overall, just sacrificed myself in order to meet the demands that I had on me at the time. After about 2 months of eating c**p and not caring for myself, I began having this kidney pain every morning. I have been so worried and trying to find answers everywhere. Your story just made sense to me. I have cut out almost all processed foods and 2 days ago, I started taking my vitamins again. I have been takin 4000 units of vitamin D3 at dinner time, and as of the very next morning, the pain disappeared. I am pretty sure that I was poisening my poor kidneys with citric acid and all kinds of other c**p. What you shared on this forum has made all the difference for me, so I just wanted to thank you personally for taking the time to write about it. A very good wakeup call for me.
I has a pain in my left kidney last week. My doctor said most probably you have a stone after urina and blood test. From last two days every half an hour i should go to bathroom. I drunk alot of water almost three time the normal during last time till now. Just this morning i realized a stone comming out with my urina. Now i feel good. its size around 3mm and color black.
I had this same thing last November on my right kidney...for me it was an ache. This really annoying ache, and just like I could feel my kidney in there..if that makes sense. Most of the time, like everyone else, it eased or went away when being up and walking. It scared me and I ended up in the ER. They found no infection,no stones, and did blood work,BUN and Creatine. All normal. They did find a small stone in left kidney. That's still in there but anyway... the right side ache finally ended and now I have it again on my left side..same thing..laying it bothers me but when up it fades. I dont think its my stone because,I had the same feeling on my stoneless side. The only thing I can think of is I haven't been as active the last month, haven't drank a lot of water and have been eating mostly c**p honestly.
Has anyone had blood work done and got results back??
