Did you ever find out what caused the ureter to become narrowed? I am having the server issues.

Same problem as many others here for the past 8 days. Pain in both kidneys around 6 a.m., peeing doesn't really change anything (except sometimes the pain increases for a short time after peeing and going back to bed) and the pain goes away over the first few hours after I'm up and around. Initial urine test was negative for stones or infection. I'm really only posting in the hope that I will get updates when others post.

Dominico,
Oh My Goodness!! You have just explained my symptoms exactly. It's always if I sleep for then 6 hours, mostly on the weekends (because I can never get to sleep at night on the week days and only ever get 4-5 hours of sleep). The pain is pretty severe. After going to the bathroom it will slowly fade away. I've had this go on for a very long time, but finally today I thought I should look it up. How strange! I saw on another site that it could be from sleeping funny. But I don't sleep funny. I lay down on my back and almost always wake up in the same position. If I do change position it's for the minutes between my alarms, I roll over.
I do have intersatitial cystitis, which causes painful bladder, but I don't know if it causes back/kidney? pain that severe.
I know you posted this a year or so ago but did you ever get any answers from your doctor?

Drink more water. This is a no brained folks. You are supposed to drink 2 cups of water for every cup of coffee, because of what coffee is doing by dehydrating your body. Try what I said, and the majority of these posts and inquiries will cease.

If you are a coffee drinker, you MUST drink 2 cups of water for EVERY cup of coffee you take in. I had left side kidney pain in the morning, and a chiropractor told me about the coffee and how it dehydrated the body. Within 2 days of doing what he said, I do not have the aching kidney any longer. Drink water folks!

I have been waking up recently with a gassy type pain in the left side of my back maybe about halfway up. I don’t have any blood in my stool or urine and once I get up and start moving the pain goes away. It doesn’t always happen, but it seems to build up overnight and causes a lot of discomfort to the point of not being able to sleep. Is this something I should have checked? Thanks for your time.

I am relieved to find out that this is not a symptom I struggle with alone. I have had this pain since I was a teenager and I am nearly 40 now. In 2002 I went to hospital to have it looked at. After an ultrasound I was told there is nothing wrong with me. The pain has increased recently and is not limiting itself only to mornings anymore. I still get the relief from toilet duties in the morning, but I have some nagging aches that follow me for the rest of the day in both sides of my belly. I have done a blood test and I hope to get results next month. I am also doing a CT scan in a few days. It has cost me £800 so far but I am determined to find an answer. I am sure that my results will start to point in a direction that will be of interest to my fellow sufferers here. I will report back.

I’ve got the same thing as all of you... I’m 23 l, in good health (I think) and this has plgued me since I was about 13 years old! I find the more deep and restful my sleep was, the more pain I encounter in the morning. Mine went from a kidney pain to an overall stiffness in my body in the morning. I have a little protein in my urine. I’ve had so many tests all other things are clear, ultrasounds, pee tests, full bloods, physicals. In fact the dr said i was basically perfect! I’ve also had bone profiles, liver tests! Everything. I’ve been to a rheumatologist to rule out lupus and he looked at me and said “no way you’ve got lupus” because I didn’t look physically sick I think... I eat a super healthy diet full of greens, even a green smoothie everyday, don’t eat much meat and drink my 8 glasses of water a day, no coffee, not much alcohol. (Pain is always at 5am... if I haven’t slept well that night I won’t have so much pain... I also once had my eyebrows tattooed on for three hours and that time lying on my back gave me pain too :() someone needs to help us all because it’s so annoying and worrying!

I found 3 commonalities with mine:
1. When I eat heavily at night before bedtime
2. If I eat a lot of sugary foods at night before bedtime
3. Drinking lots of water throughout the day makes it go away

So what was the outcome of your Dr visit?

Drinking raw/unpasteurized milk is dangerous. The risk of bacterial infection far outweighs any purported benefits. I know there are a lot of vocal and adamant proponents of raw dairy out there, but please consider that their claims may be wishful thinking, and that without heating milk to kill bacteria you are rolling the dice every time you consume it.

I've been saying for years that cow's milk is not intended for human consumption. It's for baby cows. Mother's milk is the only milk nature intended for humans to consume. Get your vitamin D and calcium elsewhere.
