Well guys, same thing here, It started like a month ago with severe pain in the right side of the throat, and now specially when yawn, like a spot, after many antibiotics im starting to feel better with Augmentim and Brucam, anyways, hope this thing cure.

Im a doctor btw, and what ive been thinking at the moment, after see my ENT, its that maybe its a cellulits of the peritonsilar tissue due to a individual predisposition for a criptic tonsil or even a tonsilar chronic infection. Its called flegmon, Doc tolds me that tonsil cancer is rare, and hes a postgraduated in ENT oncologic surgery. But im still doing researching on this

Hi:
This calls for a second opinion. You should never be living with discomfort that has not been diagnosed. Keep asking until you get a solid answer with solutions. Did you see an ENT (ear, nose and throat) doctor? That's important. Don't give up...This is not normal. Did you take ALL of the medication when it was given to you? That would affect your recovery, even if you were feeling better. You have to take all of any medications, especially the one(s) for strep throat. Strep can evolve into other serious problems. Let me know what happens.

I have the same problem as everyone else. Diagnosed with strep about 2 weeks ago, and received antibiotics. All the symptoms went away until yesterday. The pain on the left side of my throat is so bad it woke me up at night. I've tried Ibuprofen and Tylenol as well as Excedrin and nothing makes the pain go away. The only thing that helps is taking a bath, not swallowing, or sleeping. I can't afford to see a doctor right now, I have to wait until Thursday (payday), and also can't afford to call in sick again so hopefully it goes away by the next time I work, Wednesday. I can feel how swollen my neck is, and when I swallow, it feels like I'm swallowing a marble, even if it is only water.

I have the same problem as well. I went to two different doctors. One said it is TMJ (which I suffer from, a bit), while the other said it was related to an ear infection (which, oddly, I am also prone to on the left side). It's probably a little both, as I feel pressure and irritation in my right ear, and also pain in my left jaw.

I have the pain on left side of my throat(near the base of the tongue) for last 2 years. Saw about 4-5 different doctors. Also saw a cancer specialist, he suspected something wrong with tonsils. Gave me a PET scan, which showed some hypermetabolic activity in my left tonsil. Following which the doctor asked me to undergo tonsillectomy to be sure. Initially I was reluctant since tonsillectomy is a very painful procedure. But I couldn't live with the throat pain either. So I wanted to find out whats wrong. Did undergo tonsillectomy and the biopsy results came out fine. Doctor said nothing was wrong with my throat. The doctor ruled out cancer. But even after I recovered from tonsillectomy, the throat pain was still there. Then I switched the doctor again and the next doctor said I might have LPRD, so he prescribed me Nexium. Also asked me change my eating habits and drink a lot of water. Now I am feeling much better. The pain have not gone away fully, but I eat less spicy food now, drink a lot of water and if I take the medicine regularly, then I feel okay.
Hope this helps you.

Try gargling salt water and taking about 4 table spoons of vinegar a day. I hope it helps. It sounds like a sinus infection. ;-)

I have the same problem; here is how I am dealing with it.
As some may know, there are laws which regulate health; the health of your body, mind, etc.
If a law is broken, the body breaks down and gets sick. So, somewhere along the way we have all either contracted this from someone else, or we, through our habits, have contracted it ourselves.
I went to the doctor and he told me it was either strep throat coming or going, or a virus. He prescribed an antibiotic which can only treat an infection! Strep throat is an infection. Antibiotics can't defeat a virus. I did not take the antibiotics as I did know I did not have strep. For most here, we have a virus or potentially something akin to tonsillitis, laryngitis, post-nasal drip (which has turned infectious), rhinitis, or a sinus infection.
You can take antibiotics, but the best way to deal with it is to accelerate the symptoms to purge the penalty; you can accelerate the symptoms of your problem by fasting.
While fasting requires discipline, a 1 to 3 day fast (drink water if you need to, but no food) will allow your body to concentrate on the problem at hand. If need be, take a two day break and repeat the fast. If you drink coffee, prepare for a bad headache.
Also, if you do take antibiotics, make sure to eat plenty of organic yogurt.
Drink plenty of water; at least 8-10 cups.

That sounds like a good solution. Do you have any other tricks like this that you can share to help with this problem? I think that would be really helpful. Thanks for this!

What is the sugar for? I know what the yogurt is for but does the sugar also serve a purpose?

I have this same kind of thing. The left side of my throat hurts; it kind of goes up to my jaw too on the left side.
I also have a runny nose and a sneeze and cough. My mom won't take me to the doctor even though its been like this for almost two weeks. Ughh. If anyone finds anything out for me let me know.

Sounds like everyone has the same issue but nobody knows what it is. I have the same symptoms going on three weeks now and just over the past few days my tongue has been hurting on the same side. My ear only feels aggravated here and there, nothing chronic yet. I don't smoke, not usually around any cleaning stuff, limited allergies...so I'm at a loss what this could be. I have a doc appt. on the 21st so we'll see what he says.
